A Time to Fight
Contributed by Catherine Karas, President

My heart is breaking. Evil has been given "permission" by leadership to express itself—and it is doing so.

In recent years, much hate has been covered with a mask of political correctness in the US. I cannot speak for other countries, but I suspect that similar dynamics may have occurred.  Leadership, who seem to be giving license to people to express their hate, is leading us in the US.  Hate mongers have even been called "heros."  These people do not seem to comprehend the affect of this position. What Is Evil?

Contributed by Susan Thesenga

By the time I encountered the Pathwork® in 1972, I could already see that “evil” is a superimposed label that the mind gives to what we don’t want to see in ourselves, a way to distance ourselves from what we reject. The Pathwork teachings offer brilliant insights into “evil” – in the form of the personal lower self – outlining its origins in trauma, its evolution as a defense against pain, and also the possibility for its transformation. I Walked My Way out of Religion and Found God.

Contributed by Kathleen B. Goldberg, LCSW

Sunlight drenched the morning fields of mustard and grasses as we made our way down the slopes, back up through the mud and over to the next rise. Spain spread herself before us as we walked quietly chatting. We offered a “Buen Camino” when passing another clump of pilgrims.  Now leaving those I had shared the night with in the albergue, I picked up my pace to enfold myself into the silence I craved. Read More

Believing Is Seeing

Contributed by David Schwerin

Perception is the ability to become aware of something through the senses. Unfortunately, our senses often provide insufficient or faulty information. Distortions come from defects in our sense organs or the functioning of the brain. Weather conditions, time of day, distracting background, unclear stimulus, or individual prejudices can also lead to errors in perception. Read More.

The Hidden Key to Success in the Environmental Movement

Contributed by Charles Cresson Wood

We think about, or at least the mass media directs our attention to, many terrible things that are happening “out there in the world.” The list is a long one including climate change, toxic pesticides, top soil erosion, species extinction, and overpopulation. The fact is that the key to success in the environmental movement is “in here,” and by that phrase, I mean inside our heads, hearts, feelings, thoughts, and souls. All the scary facts about what’s happening out there in the world are symptoms of an inner sickness inside us, a sickness that desperately and urgently needs to be healed. Read More.

Befriending Your Inner Terrorist

Contributed by Beth Hedquist

The domestic terrorist attack that recently occurred in Charlottesville, Va. by persons motivated by hate, fear, and intolerance has offered me an opportunity to reflect on the teaching Jesus called us to live – The call to love your enemy.
