FACTS:
  • 3-year-old Moko Rangitoheriri arrived at Taupo hospital by ambulance 3:30pm on August 10th, 2015 with severe injuries and in a near dead condition. His body temperature was recorded at 22 degrees Celsius.

  • Because of the severity of his injuries it was decided he should be transferred to Star Ship hospital in Auckland.

  • He was pronounced dead at 10pm that evening.

  • August 2015 Tania Shailer and David Haerewa charged with murder.

  • Over the course of the next 9 months’ murder charges were reduced to Manslaughter.

  •  WHY?

  • We believe the information we will put before the Select Committee will prove once and for all that Plea Bargains and all that terminology infers are now an intrinsic part of New Zealand’s justice process
