Food for thought: the recent bombing in England should not cause us, as Christians, to stop reaching out to Muslims with God´s love, but rather motivate us all the more to do so! Because, many Muslims are increasingly disillusioned with Islam because of these awful bombings, and are seeking out the truth. Also, in Matthew 5:43-48, Jesus makes it clear that we are to love our enemies and pray for those who persecute us. If you find bitterness in your heart towards Muslims, confess that to Jesus in prayer and keep praying until you find healing and peace, and pray for Muslims to see Jesus, even during this very season of Ramadan. It begins Saturday, and ends on June 25. May the light of Jesus pierce the darkness, and shine grace, peace, and truth into many hearts!

Made New in Christ!

We rejoice with some people coming to faith in Jesus recently: two men from Iran, three men from Afghanistan, and one woman from Chechnya prayed with team members here to invite Jesus into their lives. This is not taken lightly by them, as it will mean a break from their Muslim traditions and perhaps from Muslim family members as well. For example, one of the men is quite concerned how his dad will react, as he is a fervent Muslim. Two of the others prayed to accept Jesus with Ali, our Farsi translator, in a vineyard near the Oasis. What a special picture that is, to turn to Jesus, THE vine, in a vineyard! So we pray that they will all bear fruit, be a testimony to their families, and become evangelists themselves! Jesus is reaching Muslims, especially through those Muslims who convert. Often, their love for Jesus speaks volumes to their peers (Muslims who convert are often more effective at reaching other Muslims than the missionaries are!). One of the other men was given dreams and a vision, which helped confirm Jesus to him. In one dream, he was digging his own grave, BUT then Jesus climbed down into his grave to take his place! A week later, he prayed with Ali and I to repent and invite Jesus into his life. His wife & two little boys are here too. They often all visit the Oasis together; pray for his wife and boys to come to know Jesus and follow Him as well!

A moment from our monthly outreach in downtown Vienna, using a Sketchboard. We had a great talk with an Austrian named Heinz, for over an hour. Very open and interested, he has already heard and studied a lot, but seemed to be genuinely seeking. Pray for him.

"H" now with her children! In my last update, I asked for prayer for “H” who was falsely accused of threatening her children. Praise the Lord, the court decided in her favor, and she has been reunited with her four children. They were allowed visits, but it was a two-month long process, so pray that they recover from this, their latest traumatic experience. They will be under observation, which is stressful, but we rejoice that they are together!! Thank you for praying for them. Please pray for them to see Jesus and follow Him, and also for “H” to be healed from the incurable eye disease that is slowly causing her to go blind. Her children are 3, 6, 12, and 13 (the 12 year old is the only girl, the rest are boys).
Oliver is a trooper! Here he is, just two hours after getting his cast put on at the hospital. The next day, at our church picnic, he was right back to normal, running around and having lots of fun.
What happened is, three weeks ago, first thing Sunday morning, Oliver attempted an ascent of the bunk bed, with a big piece of bread in his left hand. Michi & I were in the kitchen when we heard a loud “thump.” We ran over there, and while he looked fine, his crying told us something was wrong, which the X-ray at the hospital confirmed: a broken left forearm. But it was a clean break, and the bone was in perfect position! Oliver adjusted well to having a cast, and since he is so young, it healed quickly, and the cast is already off! We thank the Lord that it went as well as it did. In closing, we hope to see some of you soon, as we will be in NJ for a visit this summer. We land June 17th, and what is special this time around is that Michi´s whole family is flying over in July, and taking us on a two-week road trip! May the Lord uplift you, and encourage others through you! With many thanks, Ken & Michi Meyer
