To accompany Seecum Cheung's solo exhibition we have a series of events:

Friday lunchtime discussions
2 June, 16 June, 14 July, 1–2.30pm
A series of free lunches to come together and explore the exhibition themes. All welcome.

Vox Pop Map Workshop, led by Keith Dodds
Thursday 29 June, 6–8pm
An informal workshop attempting to map the political spectrum of everything from your running shoes, soft drinks and election posters.

Round table discussion with artist Seecum Cheung
Friday 30 June, 1–2.30pm 
Join us for discussion and debate focused upon the current political landscape of Europe. Free lunch provided.
 

IntoxicATE

We have been working with Birmingham City University 2nd Year students on a live project, which launches this Friday. An immersive dining experience that aims to overwhelm the senses in every way possible, transporting guests to a divine world amongst the omnipotent – curated by Dionysus & Pasithea Productions in association with producer Kaye Winwood and chef Chris Hughes. Seven courses, and priced at £25 for the evening.

FLUX by Room7 Collective

Newly formed collective of curators Room7 presents FLUX, an exhibition of contemporary art in collaboration with Grand Union and Centrala Art Gallery. The collective is made up of seven curators from different backgrounds brought together by their studies at the University of Birmingham.

The exhibition features the work of four carefully selected artists based in the West Midlands; Mark Houghton, James Lomax, Anna Parker and Zoe Robertson.

The exhibition will be followed by a symposium on Saturday 10 June, 5pm, and a publication launch later in the summer.

Welcoming Seán Elder

We are delighted to introduce our new Associate Curator, Seán Elder, joining us from Glasgow. He has previously curated programmes both individually and collectively in organisations such as The Hunterian Art Gallery, LUX Scotland and The Telfer Gallery.

He is interested in working with artists examining the role of ascribed identities, civic spaces and histories.

THE PROPOSAL
open call

Do you need seed funding for a new artwork or project? 

We are delighted to be hosting THE PROPOSAL, a brand new event by MAIA Creatives inviting artists and producers to pitch their ideas to a live audience and have the chance to raise seed funding to get it started. 

We are now looking for proposals to be presented at Grand Union Wednesday 5 July.

Deadline for proposals 12 June 2017.
