Dear Parents, Guardians, Alumni, Parishioners, and Friends of Assumption-St. Bridget School,

We have four weeks of school left this academic year, and a lot more teaching and learning to occur!  It is the time of year of where all of us can get distracted and lax as we approach the finish line.  With daylight longer it is a temptation for students to be up later too.  With your partnership, I know we can make the most of our instructional time left.  Please remind your child(ren) to complete and hand in homework, go to bed on time, and come ready to do their jobs as ASB students.  This will go a long way towards a successful finish for all!
Some of you may be well aware of the new popularity and craze of “spinners”.  These toys have somehow been connected with being sound tools to help students focus in educational settings.  As a faculty and staff, we do not support these claims, and there is much research to support the false marketing going on with these “spinners”.  Please avoid sending your child to school with any “spinner” at all, as they are taking away from a student’s learning and the learning of those around them.    If you have questions, feel free to contact me directly.
Thank you to all parents who are using the loop and following the new loop pattern.  Much appreciated!  Please send Mr. Pozarski any suggestions as we use this time for trial and error in preparation for next year’s traffic pattern.
I had the pleasure this week of joining the eighth graders and their teachers on part of their three day, end-of-year retreat.  Experiencing the day with them at Camp Don Bosco is now a treasured memory.  What a fine group of young people that we are sending off to their prospective high schools!  I was also reminded of the fragility of friendships and foundations.  Faculty and staff helped prepare the retreat, and deliberately allotted some time for reflection on where the students came from, along with where they are going on their journeys.  And the students most certainly engaged in these activities and reflections!  They supported one another as a community should, giving one another strength and confidence by the sharing of their unique, individual gifts.  Thank you to our faculty and staff, Ms. O'Leary, Mr. Thibodeau, Mr. Dougherty, Mrs. Hendricks, Mrs. Riggle, Ms. Fairbanks, Mr. Hastings, and Mrs. Conklin for providing such a meaningful experience for our eighth graders!  As an entire school community, let us all be reminded of the fragility of friendships and foundations that make us ASB.  In this final month, let’s all offer our prayers and actions with this in mind.

 In Christ's Peace,
Christina Vierra McGill

TRAFFIC REVISION
Thank you for your patience as we make small adjustments to the loop. Remember to use the parking lot entrance off NE 65th Street as the lines in lanes 4/5 were much shorter today. Send us any feedback or insights.

It's time to send in all your loose Box Tops for Education before the end of the year. Please return the sheets to school by Friday, June 2. A summer collection sheet will come home in the last Wednesday Envelope of the year for you to use to collect Box Tops over the summer.  Thank you for your participation!
Spirit Week is coming right up, May 30-June 2!

Baseball Playoff News:
Both the 6th grade and 8th grade boys baseball teams lost heartbreaking playoff games this past weekend:

6th Grade:  ASB fell behind early but battled back to tie the game, before St. Anthony scored in the bottom of the 7th inning to win 13-12.

8th Grade:  ASB and St. Al / John played a defensive game requiring extra innings to determine the winner, losing 2-0 in 8 innings.

As I reported last week, the 5th Grade team finished a very competitive freshman season.  The 5th grade was in every game and ended up barely missing the playoffs due to some unavoidable forfeitures.

Congrats on a great baseball season ASB!

It's nearing the end of the school year, but we are still accepting applications for 2017-18 throughout all grades! It is not too late...

Remember our awesome Incentive Referral Program! If you refer a family that ends up enrolling, you are eligible for one month's tuition credit!

Please encourage any family interested in learning more about ASB to email me. Thank you

Camp ASB Field Trips are filling fast!  If you would like your child(ren) to attend one of the Camp ASB Field Trips, please contact Dylan Pouley to prepay and reserve your spot on any of these field trips.

Over the last two weeks, I have begun the process of inputting summer prepayment invoices into FACTS. If you have turned in paperwork for Camp ASB, KinderCamp or requested to be added to any of the field trip lists, I may be in communication with you this week, either by phone or by email to make sure that each family and I are on the same page about the charges being added to their FACTS account.

The Camp ASB Summer Calendar is now available on the ASB School website and is included in this newsletter. Registrations and prepayments for Camp ASB, including registration for the Camp ASB Field Trips, are now being accepted. Some field trips have a limited number of spaces and it is important for those families that want their children to attend, or need their children to attend Camp ASB on those days, to secure their spots. This can be done by contacting me or indicating your needs on the Camp ASB Registration Forms.

If you have any questions about Extended Care or Camp ASB, do not hesitate to contact me, I am happy to assist in whatever way that I can.

Thank you,
Dylan Pouley
