June State Council meeting at Bargo

Saturday 24 June 2017, 9 am - 5 pm
NPA's next State Council meeting will be held at Wirrimbirra Sanctuary, 3105 Remembrance Drive, Bargo. The afternoon session will include an important workshop discussion to consider NPA’s possible future directions.

Job Vacancy: CEO – National Parks Association of NSW

NPA Chief Executive Officer, Kevin Evans has decided to step down after more than 7 years of exceptional leadership.

We are currently accepting job applications for a new CEO until 11 June 2017.

The CEO is responsible and accountable for implementing NPA’s strategic plan in conjunction with the Executive, building the reputation and profile of NPA within the community, managing NPA’s external and internal operations, and providing consistent high level advice to the Executive on operations, policy, advocacy and planning.

Join the NPA Executive - Apply your know-how to a good cause

Nominations are invited to fill 2 positions on the NPA Executive. We are seeking persons who would like to make a practical contribution to nature conservation, and who have useful skills or experience. As a member of the Executive, you will be directly responsible for overseeing the financial and operational affairs of NPA, implementing the strategic plan and achieving its objects. The positions are entirely voluntary.

New State Council positions available

Applications are invited to fill 4 new positions on the NPA State Council relating to the following portfolio areas: Northern Sydney, Western Sydney, Marine Conservation, and Bushwalking and Field Activities. As a member of the State Council, you will be directly involved with setting NPA’s strategic direction and policy, collaborating with other active members, and strengthening our network of local branches and groups. The positions are entirely voluntary.

NPA is concerned about the NSW Government’s planning reforms that enable development at the expense of our natural and cultural heritage. NPA is looking for an experienced volunteer who is interested in environmental planning to help with our advocacy on this issue.

NPA Photo Competition Update

The NPA 60th anniversary photo competition, which has been running throughout the year, will come to a close in August. Winners will be announced in September and the top 20 photos will be on display at ARO gallery on the 20th of September. Category winners will receive a voucher for private photography lessons with Smart digital.

Bushfire Conference May 2017: Fire, Fauna and Ferals

Tuesday 30 May - Wednesday 1 June
Nature Conservation Council’s 11th Biennial Bushfire Conference will be held in Sydney on Tuesday 30th and Wednesday 31st May 2017, with a field day on Thursday 1st June.

This multi-disciplinary fire management conference will cover themes including: fire and fauna; using fire for restoration; and the interactions of fire, weed and feral management.
