Recent Grant Successes Strengthen the AzPAPRN+ Academic Community Partnership!

The Living Streets Alliance used results of AzPAPRN+ walk and talk focus groups to win funding from the RWJF Kaboom Grant to create a safe route to school in a Tucson Neighborhood. Students from the local elementary school designed street murals and neighborhood residents came together to create a vibrant walking environment!

A Food Oasis in the Desert

Lorena Verdugo, Community Board Member and AzCHOW Board Member testified before the Arizona House Committee on CHW voluntary certification. It was an active legislative season for AzCHOW and the Arizona Community Health Worker Workforce Coalition. On December 16, 2016, the Arizona Health Committee of reference passed the Sunrise Application, paving the way for Voluntary Certification of Arizona CHWs.

Just Published! Report on the Community Health Representative Policy Summit II

The report “Gaining Momentum for Policy Action” describes findings and recommendations that emerged from the CHR Policy Summit in three key areas. Voluntary Certification – Overwhelmingly, the CHRs support certification of the CHW workforce and viewed it as a means to accomplish a number of objectives: standardizing and legitimizing the workforce; Community Health Representative establishing reimbursement through Stakeholder at the September 2016 Medicaid; differentiating between other Policy Summit workforces; and potentially increasing CHR salaries. Download the Report
