FC+ UPDATES AND FUNDING

1. FinCEAL Plus Rolling Call for Grants under the new Partnership Support Instrument
Through this Call, researchers can apply anytime for any of the following: Travel Grants, Event Grants, Project Preparatory Grants and also the new Research Visit Grants. The planned activity must be related to cooperation with African, Asian or LAC partners, in any of the FinCEAL+ regional thematic areas. Read more here.

2. FinCEAL Plus LAC Targeted Travel Grants for EU-LAC workshop on Sustainable urbanization, June 29-30 in Lisbon
FinCEAL Plus LAC is offering 1-3 Targeted Travel Grants to attend this workshop that brings together experts and NCP's from Europe and the LAC region to identify opportunities in Horizon2020 and form consortia for upcoming calls. The workshop is organized by the ALCUE Net project. Apply now! More information

3. Grant applications during FinCEAL Plus team's summer vacations
FinCEAL Plus Partnership Support Instrument grant applications are not processed during July due to summer holidays. Researchers can still apply anytime, but all applications sent in July will be processed in August and decisions sent in September. Please note that confirmation emails won't be sent in July either. If the event you wish to attend is in September, we strongly recommend applying in June.

4. LEAP-Agri announces a joint call for research on Food and Nutrition Security and Sustainable Agriculture and Aquaculture
This call invites consortia composed of at least four research organisations and/or private and public practitioners from four of the LEAP-Agri partner countries to submit project proposals for research and innovation in food and nutrition security and sustainable agriculture (FNSSA). More information can be found here. If you're interested, be sure to also apply for a FinCEAL Plus Project Preparatory Grant!

The next EuroScience Open Forum (ESOF) will be held in Toulouse from 9 to 14 July 2018. The call for session proposals has been extended until 23 June. More information

ERICENA - European Research and Innovation Centre of Excellence in China

CEBRABIC - New Centre for Europe-Brazil Business and Innovation Cooperation

The usual SC2 Info Day on the new SC2 Work Programme for 2018-2020 and a related brokerage day will be complemented by two high level dissemination and policy events and a bioeconomy village highlighting SC2 projects and initiatives. EU-CELAC Summit, 26-27 October, San Salvador, El Salvador
33 states - forming the Community of Latin America and Caribbean - meet the EU-28 at the level of Heads of State or government. They discuss issues such as trade and development and common challenges such as fight against crime and climate change.

 

7. Publications and consultations


Policy Brief as Guiding Document for Research and Technology Organisations to Engage in the Process of Internationalisation
Internationalisation enables Research and Technology Organisations (RTOs) to access new knowledge and high level partners. This report builds both on insights from the academic literature and practical experiences of RTOs. The main empirical input for report stems from a joint workshop organised by the JRC and EARTO on 21 June 2016.  More information

New global report on food crisis offers benchmark for action needed to avoid future disasters 
Despite international efforts to address food insecurity, around 108 million people in the world were severely food insecure in 2016, a dramatic increase compared with 80 million in 2015, according to a new global report on food crises released in Brussels on 31 March 2017. Read more

Report: The contribution of science in implementing the Sustainable Development Goals
This report brings together the results of two conferences on the advancement of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. The conferences were organized in cooperation with partners from science, government, the United Nations and civil society. Read more

Developing a future EU-Africa Research & Innovation Partnership on climate change and energy
In view of the Africa-EU Summit 2017, the EU-Africa High Level Policy Dialogue on science, technology and innovation is focusing its work on developing a R&I Partnership in a second priority area: climate change and sustainable energy. More information


ASIA

SEA-EU-NET - Final Report Published
Southeast Asia and Europe have established a strong partnership in S&T for years. The FP7 funded SEA-EU-NET project has been working since 2008 to expand scientific collaboration between Europe and Southeast Asia (SEA) in a more strategic and coherent manner. The Project was funded in two phases (2008-2012 and 2012-2017) and came to an end in April 2017. This report summarises the main activities and results of the projects. More information

Policy Brief: Technology transfer between the EU and India, Challenges and Opportunities
This analytical report reviews the concept of technology transfer from a theoretical perspective adn various approaches within different disciplines. It also itends to gauge the perceptions of diverse stakeholders on the current challenges and opportunities associated to the process of technology transfer between India and the European Union. This study concludes that technology transfer between India and the EU is already occurring through different channels and it could be further enhanced by an adequate policy framework between both regions.  More information
