We are embarking tomorrow, May 24, on a trial run of a modified afternoon loop configuration. Our goal is to make more room for cars in our lot and remove as much congestion as possible from neighboring streets. Additionally, the modifications will help us prepare for the impacts our capital project will have on the west end of the parking lot beginning in May, 2018.
The primary modification is the addition of a fifth lane in the pattern. The lane has been added next to the south wall of the gym. The addition of this lane will narrow the existing lanes slightly, but will incorporate parking lot space that currently is unused in the afternoon.
A second modification occurs at the west end of the five lanes, and involves a more left turn to the pick up/loading area. Drivers in lanes 1-5 will take turns executing this turn, first from lane one, then lane two, etc.
Cones will be set up so that drivers entering the parking lot through the north entrance from NE 65th Street will use lanes 4-5. The entrance off NE 65th currently is under utilized, so please access this entrance if possible.
Drivers entering the parking lot from 33rd Avenue NE will use lanes 1-3 (see the diagram). For guidance, watch for signs attached to cones in the loop. Please note: drivers with longer vehicles may wish to use lanes 2 and 3, and cars entering from 33rd Ave NE should not try to cross over cones to get into lanes 4 or 5. We will have extra adults in the loop Tuesday to direct traffic.
