Did Someone Call For A Road Trip
Today, President Trump heads abroad for a trip around the Middle East and Europe. The White House laid out three purposes for the trip: reaffirming U.S. leadership globally, building relationships with world leaders and broadcasting "a message of unity to America's friends and to the faithful of three of the world's greatest religions," said national security advisor Herbert Raymond "H.R." McMaster.

The Dispute Escalates
In 2016, the Permanent Court of Arbitration in the Hague awarded the Philippines sovereign rights to access offshore oil and gas fields in its 200-mile Exclusive Economic Zone. This zone includes the Reed Bank, 85 nautical miles off Philippine's coast in the South China Sea. Recently, President Duterte expressed interest in drilling for oil inside the Reed Bank. Tensions are high as China, who claims the area, states they will go to war if the Philippines try to enforce the arbitration ruling by moving forward with drilling.
