Black Oak Coffee Roasters to Budapest?

My fave coffee spot in Ukiah received a cool honor at the Specialty Coffee Association of America's gathering in Seattle recently. Black Oak’s very own Steve Cuevas received first place at the Cup Tasters Championship! Have you ever heard the crew at Black Oak lined up at the counter slurping away at their delicious joe? That is cup tasting. Ask them sometime about how this helps them taste the nuance and flavors of their coffee. It’s a skill Steve has in spades. From the Black Oak Facebook Page: “Steve was ranked number one in the entire country for ‘the ability to taste, smell, concentrate, and recall’ coffees. We are insanely proud!” The world championship is in Budapest; we’ll wait to hear if Steve makes the trip. Well-done Black Oak Coffee Roasters!!! blackoakcoffeeroasters.com

Fun Food Events Coming Up

June 2nd: Mendocino Film Festival
Commanding the Table

Opening Night Celebration at the Hill House Inn on Friday, June 2, takes its inspiration from the film Ella Brennan: Commanding the Table. This kick-off features inspired cuisine from the best chefs of Mendocino County, cocktails crafted by local mixologists, iconic beers from North Coast Brewing Company, and a selection of wines.

This members only party is a New-Orleans inspired courtyard with live New Orleans Jazz and some of our famous mobile gourmet kitchens, including The Flying Saucy, a wood-fired traveling pizza oven (pictured below). Tsunami Nachos will be there as well as the ultra-hip retro Tow-Ster Trailer Portable Bar, where you can enjoy sipping locally distilled Low Gap Whisky. Mingle with celebrities and special guests from the film world as we raise a glass to the Mendocino Film Festival. Mendocinofilmfestival.org
