2017 started with varying IVAs growth for Southeast Asia destinations


 
Vietnam started 2017 with an impressive year-on-year growth of 25.1 percent for January and boomed up to 43.8 percent by the end of February. Indonesia, Philippines and Cambodia also experienced a good start to the year with growth of 21.3 percent, 17.9 percent and 14.1 percent respectively, while Thailand and Singapore reported slower growth of 6.5 percent and 4.8 percent respectively in January this year compared to last year. In contrast to Vietnam, other countries showed slower growth for the month of February, whereas Thailand posted a negative growth rate of 3.4 percent.

TAT: Thailand tourism generates 840 billion Baht in first four months of 2017


Thailand’s Ministry of Tourism and Sports released figures showing that during the first four months of this year, 12 million visitors came to Thailand spending around 620 billion Baht, an increase of 4.71 per cent when compared with the same period in 2016. Domestic tourism is thriving too, with over 220 billion Baht being generated. Read more.

Singapore Airlines adds Stockholm as second Scandinavian city in route network


Singapore Airlines (SIA) has added a second Scandinavian city to its route network. Operating five times a week from Singapore Changi Airport, SQ362 flies to Stockholm, via Moscow. This will complement SIA’s existing flights to Copenhagen in Denmark, boosting connectivity between Southeast Asia and Northern Europe, in addition to meeting increasing demand for travel between Southwest Pacific and Northern Europe.
