Renovation Success!

Teaming up with Julie at Renovating Made Easy, we had a fantastic event on May 3rd with around 50 people attending to view our project. Special thanks to Julie Anglesey who did an incredible job of project managing the 2-month renovation resulting in an amazing transformation. Guests experienced a great networking evening and enjoyed food prepared by "the duck nuts" duo team of Nev & Kell, past contestants of My Kitchen Rules.

May 2017: How to make a home your own - easy tips anyone can try!
(Source: Domain Good Living)

Have you just moved in? Or are you wanting to rejuvenate the design of your home and really make it your own? This month Domain gave some tips on settling in without getting carried away with renovations or costly additions to your current layout. There are many very simple ways to personalise your living space and get the most out of your home, and it's easier than you may think!

Get to know the structural design of your place
Are you in a new place, or has the house, villa or apartment you're living in seen many others before you? Don't be too quick to judge the design quirks or living space before you've had the chance to make it your own. Get to know the layout, ask yourself what works for you and what doesn't? Try to work with the seemingly quirky, character or retro aspects of the place before you jump into totally re-fitting the entire space, as this can be costly and means you may be missing a unique twist that may actually add to the space and make it feel like home.

Make the floorplan suit your living habits
You may not need a dining area if you only tend to eat at the kitchen bench - setting up bar stools might better suit your dining habits, and frees up space for an extra living area or study (Hint: this technique works great in apartments). And do you need a study? Or are you more inclined to using a laptop in bed or on the couch? We all have different living habits, and customising your layout is a great starting point for making your home suit your everyday lifestyle needs.

Textiles & colour schemes
For any older or darker place, white is always a great colour to brighten up any living space. Try a white side or coffee table, white lamp shades and white picture frames. Complement these with colours that you like, and that suit the style of your home decor. Tenants - although you may not be able to paint or make changes to fixtures in the home, adding curtains, cushion covers and paintings that reflect your style and colour choice will make a huge difference to the feel of the room. Be creative.

Add a personal touch
Photos of family, friends or even pets really bring out the personality in any place and will make you feel at home in your space. What are your interests, and what is important to you in life? It may seem like a tiny touch, but placing ornaments, flowers, scented candles or anything that you associate with feeling relaxed and at home in your place will make an enormous difference to how much you identify with the space you are living in.

Another great month of leasing at Focus West
An amazing effort this month from our extraordinary leasing specialist Ms Jessica Law. With a continued contracted market, Jess is achieving results - evidenced by this happy testimonial from one of our lovely owners this month:

"Fantastic work Jessica and team. I know the rental market is very tight at the moment so I'm pleased you have found me a tenant and I've been very impressed with the way you have kept me informed the whole time. Thank you."
