Kitten season has well and truly arrived, and Holly Hedge is in a state of emergency. Our Sanctuary is overflowing with abandoned and unwanted cats and kittens – 106 at the last count, with an ever-growing waiting list of would-be residents. We’re passionate about protecting all of them, but the effort is non-stop and the bills are mounting for food, emergency medical care, vaccinations, microchipping, neutering and extra staff costs – our ever increasing vet bills alone were in excess of £90,000 last year.  This is why we need your help -

Would You Consider Making a Donation to help us help innocent animals like.....

- Olivia who was only eight months old herself when she gave birth in the footwell of a car.

- Four month old Peanut who arrived here with just one eye and was given emergency surgery.

-Grace who was about to be neutered, when it was realised she was already pregnant. She had kittens three days after she arrived here.

- Emily who came in heavily pregnant – a fox had eaten her last litter.

For those of us working at Holly Hedge, these stories are all too common and, when they first arrive, many of our cats are distressed by their experiences. They quickly sense that they are now looked after and safe, but all are desperate to move on to a new and loving home. Until that day comes, we provide for their every need, offering food, warmth and security, medical treatment, vaccinations, micro-chipping, and lots of one-to-one care, attention, cuddles and love! Providing shelter from harm and the promise of a brighter future is at the core of our existence and we strive to help every animal that comes our way. But passion, commitment and physical effort just aren’t enough. Without any government or lottery funding we rely solely on the kind help of our supporters. So please we beg of you to help us in this time of need, your money can help save a kittens life today and help keep our sanctuary doors open.

We are very excited to once again be organising an amazing sponsored Newfoundland Dog Water Rescue event in Portishead Marina on Saturday 15th July 2017, working with The Newfound Friends team. Newfoundland dogs are as much at home in water as on dry land, these life-saving dogs are taking the plunge to support Holly Hedge Animal Sanctuary. This is your chance to dive in and do your bit too – but be prepared to get wet as you experience for yourself what it’s like to be rescued by a 150lb hero. You can make a real difference to our work by taking part in this truly exhilarating, once in a lifetime event. All we ask is for you to pledge to raise a minimum of £150 in sponsorship money to take part. All proceeds will come back to helping the animals in our care.

To find out more or to register for a place and receive your fundraising pack, please contact Hannah on 01275 474 719, or email fundraising@hollyhedge.org.uk – please note that we have limited places for this event and will register
participants on a first come – first served basis. If you can’t take part in the event, then we’d love to have your support in the stands on the day!
DOG RESIDENT OF THE MONTH - Scarlet

Scarlet is a super sweet Staffy that just adores people and loves attention. She really enjoys her walks and playing with her toys. Scarlett has been good around smaller dogs, but big dogs do frighten her and she has reacted towards them in the past, however with more socialisation we think she will overcome this fear and be a happy social little dog. Ideally she would live as an only pet so she can have all the human company to herself. She also loves children but prefers kids around 8+ who can play with her but also give her space.
If you would like to find out more about Scarlet then please contact us today!
CAT RESIDENT OF THE MONTH - Olivia

Olivia arrived here with her kittens after being found as a stray. She has been a very attentive Mum bringing up her kittens, and is now looking for a quiet loving home where she can chill out and have a much needed rest. Olivia can be a little shy, but once in a new home where she feels safe and secure, she will continue to ‘blossom’.

A HUGE thank you!

We would like to say a HUGE heartfelt thank you to all of the staff, volunteers and supporters that have helped us over the last month.

We would like to say a special thank you to all of our wonderful volunteers that made yet another successful VE Day event come to life. Especially our wonderful volunteer organisers Tania and Ginny who coordinated the event, putting in endless hours of their time to making sure everything was perfect.
