Still time to register for the upcoming iiE Gathering!

The 6th annual Ann Arbor iiE Gathering is less than a month away! Sunday, June 25 features an exciting line-up of workshops, on topics ranging from teaching civil rights, rethinking assessment, your brain on art, classroom games, girls in game-based learning, teaching with Minecraft, motivational interviewing, social/emotional learning, design thinking, multi-genre projects, and more.

The StorySlam on Monday, June 26 is also not to be missed. This year, in keeping with our overall Gathering theme of “Wonder Together,” we will hear stories beginning with the words “I wonder….” We've got a great set of participants, as well as fabulous people in the roles of judge, commentator, and MC. Plus there will be prizes in lots of categories… including "Most Likely to be the Story of a Country Song."

Monday continues with a mystery activity (we can share only this obscure clue: “synchronous palimpsest”), a project showcase, and our trademark unconference with magneto-poetry session themes.

There is still time to have your project, work, or idea, featured in the June 26 Project Showcase. Just complete this brief form by June 2nd and tell us a little bit about your work.

Tuesday, June 27 will be dedicated to developing your project ideas, structured around the iiE Design Mindset CARDS and with coaching by iiE affiliates.

Also not to be missed this June: the EMU Bright Futures Ideas to Action Conference will take place just before the iiE Gathering on Friday, June 23rd. Leaders, practitioners, researchers, and stakeholders are invited to learn about the most recent Social Emotional Learning (SEL) research and discuss how to best bring these practices into the educational community.

The October 2017 iiE Gathering: it’s official! More details will be available soon but for now save the dates and plan to join us October 28th and 29th at St. Mary’s Academy in Portland, Oregon.

And finally: iiE Board of Directors had a productive exploratory research excursion to Ireland this month, where we met with representatives from the Innovation Academy at University College Dublin, the Portershed in Galway, Blackstone Launchpad at NUI Galway, and others working at the forefront of innovation and learning in Ireland. We’ll be following up with our new friends and planning new initiatives for the future. Stay tuned!
