Church Board Update:
The board met on Tuesday, May 16th. Below is a brief update from the board.
Finances and Budget Approval
Jay Pullen, chair of our Finance Committee, proposed a budget for 2017/2018 and provided a brief update regarding the Capital Campaign. We are grateful for God’s provision. Not only is the capacity to hire a part time Associate Pastor built into this year’s budget, but the board also approved $50,000 remaining from last year’s operational budget be moved over to the Capital Campaign. The board and select ministry coordinators are in the process of making adjustments to the budget, but we aim to have the budget approved in the very near future. Please praise to God for His in this season including the provision of a skilled, diligent, and wise Finance Committee! Please continue to pray for His provision and for His wisdom and vision for how best to allocate the gifts and resources He provides.
Missional Communities
Victoria Wik, one of our Skyview Reaching Out Ministry Coordinators, gave a presentation to the board about her experience with Missional Communities at the church she attended in Edinburgh, Scotland. We are exploring the idea of Missional Communities as a way to intentionally engage our 3 Strategic Goals - Outreach, Discipleship, and Leadership Development. Victoria’s presentation provided the board with a deeper understanding of Missional Communities. Related to this, Pastor Stuart has created and posted a job description for an Associate Pastor of Missional Communities and is the process of reviewing applications. Please pray for God’s guidance as we move toward clarity regarding Missional Communities at Skyview and for wisdom for Pastor Stuart as he interviews and decides who would be best for the Associate Pastor role.
Building Has Begun!
Praise God for His faithfulness as the ground has officially been broken on our land and the earliest days of construction have arrived! Praise God for the many people who have faithfully and sacrificially given their time, finances, and patience as God brings us ever closer to realizing this dream. Please continue to hold our Property Committee and Stewardship Campaign Committee up to the Lord for refreshment, renewal, and wisdom. Pray for safety for all involved in construction. Pray for discernment as we continue to reach out and discover new ways of sharing faith, hope, and love in the Harvest Hills community.
Respectfully submitted,
Leanne Hooper
Church Board Secretary, 2016-2017
Our Skyview Home
Skyview Home Building Campaign – We’re on the home stretch!
On Sunday, June 11 we will gather to launch the final phase of the Skyview Home Building Campaign. With your prayerful and generous support, we will meet our goal to raise $750,000 to help build our new church home in the Northern Hills area.
Now that the contract is signed with our builder, the wheels are in motion to start construction as soon as possible. It’s been a long time coming, but we have to believe that God’s timing in all of this is just as it was meant to be. Won’t it be exciting to see our sanctuary and other places of ministry take shape over the next several months? Stay tuned as there will be many opportunities for us all to roll up our sleeves and help with the building project along the way.
In the meantime, we have the responsibility of raising $300,000 to meet our goal. Soon, you will be receiving your own personal pledge package – either hand-delivered at church or in the mail. I encourage you to pray and seek God’s guidance about your pledge over these next two years. If all of us dig deep and give sacrificially, with faith believing, I am confident that God will honour our commitment.
June 11 will be a wonderful service – one of celebration for how far we’ve come and inspiration for the rest of the journey. You will have the opportunity to present your two-year pledge during the service. Following our time of worship, we will all share in a time of fellowship with a complimentary catered luncheon – a bit of a scaled-down version of our annual Celebration Banquet. We hope you will plan to join us.

God bless you and your family,

Skyview Reaching Out
Skyview stories will return on June 4th! This is an opportunity for us to share with one another what God is doing in our lives. On the first Sunday of each month there will be space during the service for people to come up and speak of what God has been teaching them, to tell of something they are grateful for, to offer an encouraging word, or to speak of where they have seen God lately. We all have stories to share, and we help to build up the church when we share them! Please consider sharing yours.
Community Garden Participation!
A group from Skyview met at the Harvest Hills Community Garden on Saturday, May 27th and planted a number of vegetables that will be donated to the local Food Bank! It was a great time! We will be returning over the next few months to help with upkeep of these gardens. If you'd like to be involved, talk to Victoria Wik!
