UK Outdoor Industry Awards - enter now!
 
The UK Outdoor Industry Awards 2018 are only open to entries for another 12 days -
click here to download the entry form. All entries will be on display at the Outdoor Trade Show (OTS) in July, where visitors will have the opportunity to vote for their favourites in each category before the finalists are announced at the after-show party on Wednesday 12th July.
The awards will also be judged by a prestigious panel of leading experts from the industry, including Lee Bagnall (JD Sports), Pete Cole (Outdoor & Cycle Concepts), Anthony Greasby (Countryside Ski & Climb) from retail, and Ben Weeks (Trail), Tom Hutton (OE Retailer), and Will Renwick (TGO) from the media.

OTS 2017 - six weeks to go!

There are now just six weeks left until the UK’s largest outdoor trade show begins. OTS 2017 will take place from Tuesday 11th to Thursday 13th July 2017 at Stoneleigh Park in Warwickshire. Around 100 exhibitors have already booked with exhibition stand space still available.

Contribute to the new OIA website

We will be launching the OIA’s new website this summer and have an opportunity for our members to contribute to it - do you have any outdoor lifestyle images that you would like us to display on our new website (and possibly our promotional material)?

If so, please send them to
lauren.mackenzie@theoia.co.uk as soon as possible, confirming that there are no restrictions on the usage of the images. If your images aren’t heavily branded, you’re welcome to request that we credit accordingly.

EOS 2017 delegate registration now open!

Online registration for the European Outdoor Summit (EOS), which takes place 4th - 5th October 2017 in Treviso, Italy, is now open. Bookings can be made with an early bird discount until 31st July. The European Outdoor Group (EOG) has announced that the global sports business platform ISPO and W.L Gore & Associates have signed up as Major Sponsors of the Summit for their fifth year, while Vibram joins them as Major Sponsor for the first time.

EOCA supports more conservation projects

The European Outdoor Conservation Association (EOCA) is celebrating being able to support more projects than ever before during its 2017 Spring Funding Round. Three projects were chosen during a public vote which reached 60.4 million people worldwide, and a further three were chosen by EOCA members themselves. These are all to be funded from membership fees and fundraising monies raised from the European outdoor Industry.

Outdoor Recreation Network event
 
On Wednesday 28th June at Plas Menai, Outdoor Recreation Network (ORN) will host a conference entitled “Into the unknown: Managing our changing appetite for adventure”. Using North Wales as a case study, the four speakers will examine changing trends in adventure based recreation and what this means for wider recreation management in the UK. Early bird booking closes tomorrow (1st June).

Keswick Mountain Festival

Details of the speaker programme for the 2017 Keswick Mountain Festival (KMF) have been revealed. Running, climbing, art and film will all feature in a varied schedule that brings some of the UK’s biggest names in outdoor adventure to the Theatre by the Lake. Taking place 8th - 11th June, the high profile line-up will include Sir Chris Bonington, Nicky Spinks and Jasmin Paris, Alan Hinkes OBE and Terry Abraham, and Andy Beck.

OIA 2017 AGM Report

The OIA’s 2017 Report was presented to delegates at the conference in March, which contains a summary of current membership together with details of our financial progress over the last few years. It also highlights key activities of the OIA in the last 12 months and provides an overview of the accounts from the previous financial year. 

Our Business Plan is featured on the back page, which summarises what we represent and what we do as an Association to promote and support our members.
