Dear Friend,
When we released our annual statistics back in April, they showed that foodbank usage continues to rise in the UK, with The Trussell Trust’s network of foodbanks providing over 1,182,000 three-day emergency food supplies to people in crisis in the previous year.
We highlighted that although the rollout of the new Universal Credit system for administering benefits has been piecemeal so far, foodbanks in areas of partial or full rollout are reporting significant problems with its impact, with on average a 16% increase in referrals for emergency food. Read our report Early Warnings: Universal Credit and Foodbanks.
Our data also revealed that benefit delays and changes remain the biggest cause for referral to a foodbank, accounting for 43% of all referrals. Low income has also risen as a referral cause from 23% to 26%. With the impending roll our of Universal Credit, and the many challenges that will bring, it's vital that we support foodbank through this period, which we couldn't do without your support.
Thank you
Samantha Lane

We are taking this opportunity to look back over some of the amazing stories we have heard from clients, supporters and volunteers over the years. We will be sharing these stories throughout 2017 so make sure you pop back now and then to see what's new.
