World Environment Day 5 June 2017 - Connecting People to Nature

The theme for World Environment Day is Connecting People to Nature. Communities all over the world are being encouraged to get outdoors and rediscover the beauty & value of our natural environment. We are so lucky to have such a beautiful environment at our doorstep, so take the opportunity to get out and enjoy it!

While you are out and about, take the opportunity to bring your camera along and take part in the world’s biggest nature photo album. Share a photo or video of your favorite place in nature using #WorldEnvironmentDay or #WithNature and describe why it's special to you.

For more information go to the World Environment Day website.

Fridge Buyback program finishing 30 June

A big thank you goes out to all Wollongong City Council residents who have participated in this program over the years and recycled over 4000 spare fridges.

Fridge Buyback was an award winning residential energy saving scheme which sadly has come to an end.

By unplugging and recycling their spare fridge or upright freezer, Wollongong residents are enjoying a combined saving of over $1.2 million per year off their power bill and have prevented the release of over 31,000 tonnes of greenhouse gases.

Don’t miss Fridge Buyback’s last collections in Wollongong on 13 and 27 June. Free spare fridge or upright freezer collection + $25 rebate (conditions apply). Call 1800 708 401 to book.
