Dear  << Test First Name >>

Winter... I guess it is not a word you would associate with Australia unless you live here, but Adelaide gets really cold. Not quite snow cold, but cold enough!
The cooler weather is  a good excuse (if you need one) to stay indoors with needle & thread, and my big frame is now set up in our ‘not very often used’ rumpus room, which gets the most amazing sunlight.

I have been keeping really busy working on projects for future classes - many of which are needed 12 months or more before the actual event.
I teach most of my projects again and again, but I like to design new things, such as the crewel embroidery panel, for special events such as the Alpine Experience, and the biannual
Beating Around the Bush convention. I have something really special I would like to do for the 2018 event, which I will share with you as soon as my submissions have been approved.
I have also submitted my project for Bath Textile Summer School (July 2018). I have a particular project in mind for that, but sadly I ran out of time before they needed images for their programme. Perhaps I add it in later…???
I like designing for classes. It gives me a real focus on what I want to achieve during the class, what I am aiming for the participants to learn and always with a particular level of difficulty in mind. It makes me think about what I embroider in a completely different way and is a nice challenge.

Embroidery @ Gallery One

The Silk Shading course finished last week.
These 5 week courses are just fabulous. Buttercups and dragonflies were emerging all around the table, one girl only about 50 stitches from finishing her Over the Pond and it looked amazing!

We will continue to meet for a casual, Wednesday night Stitch-Along on a basis for the rest of the term.
Come along and join us to finish a project, get help if you are stuck or start something new or if you just like stitching & chatting at the same time (who doesn’t?).

Looking ahead....
It is no secret that Crewel Embroidery is one of my big, big loves. I love the organic patterns, I love that nothing has to be ‘true to life’, I like the colours, I love the many stitches and I love, love, love stitching with wool. I admit it can take a little to get used to the wool, it feels so different to other threads. But it is very forgiving to stitch with once you know how to handle it.
Blue Elegance
Introduction to Crewel Embroidery

5 weeks, Wednesday 2nd - 30th, August
If you, like me, enjoy learning and using lots of different stitches, then I am sure you will have fun with Crewel Embroidery .
During the class you will learn a wide variety of common crewel work stitches to create texture and interest and bring the design to life, including laid fillings which are unique to this type of embroidery .
Blue Elegance measures 16cm x 14cm wide. It is a fabulous piece for you to try, if you are new to crewel work or wish to practise your skills on a small project. The small panel is the perfect size for a cushion front, a small bag and looks equally lovely framed.
Cost: $135 tuition | $45 Full embroidery kit

I don’t consider my Fine Stitch Studio Shop a real embroidery shop. I think of it as a 'shelf' where I can make my kits available for you to enjoy. But I am thinking that when I find really nice materials, or practical, good quality tools, or things that are difficult to come by, I like to get more than I need and make it available for you also - like ivory linen twill. I had to find it wholesale if I was to use it for kits later on, so when I finally did, I made sure I ordered enough to share....

Please Email me to pre-order.

As I begin to prepare for my trip to Thailand next month, I am certain the month ahead will be as busy here as the one just passed.
The beauty of doing what I do, is that when it all gets a little bit too crazy busy, I can always pick up my needle and thread, catch my breath and collect my thoughts...

Best Stitches,
Anna X
