Hello All,

It felt like footy season to me Sunday morning as I peeked out from under the umbrella to watch my son play in the year 4 cats. The kids love playing in the rain, more so than the parents I imagine, well done to all parents and supporters who made the effort for their kids.

KJFC & KAFC – Half Time Day

Saturday afternoon saw the KAFC host some of our AusKickers; Todd Doepel the AusKick co-ordinator had these words to say about the day.

Our Yr 3 Bobcats and Yr3 Leopards played an invitational half-time game for the Kingsley Amateur Football Club's league team.
Despite the constant drizzle and downpour, our two teams toiled away in the wet, kicking plenty of goals and showing the senior players a thing or two about wet weather play.
Everyone had a great afternoon with face painting, handball competition and watching the senior league team play.
Big thanks to Dave Hay from our KJFC committee and KAFC and for organising a very fun afternoon

Well done to Todd and Hayzy; was a fantastic day and looking forward to the next one.

KAFC Coaching/Training Clinics

David Hay has also kicked off the coaching sessions the KAFC provides for us this week. The first sessions were with the year 7 Cats on Wednesday and Year 8 cats Thursday.  Shane Logan the coach of the year 7 Cats gave the following feedback and I thought it was well worth sharing with the whole club

"Very well received by the players and myself.  Dave gave us some really good stuff to work on and continue to develop over the remainder of the season.  His willingness to bring the juniors and seniors closer was very genuine.  "

The KAFC will be holding rolling sessions with all of our Opens teams through the season. This is a great initiative as it gives our players a greater exposure to coaching talent and variety in their sessions. With Antoni Grover coming on board at KAFC and Hayzy's success in taking his senior teams to finals the Opens players and our coaches alike are going to benefit greatly. Well done to both Coaches Coordinator Steve Elliott and David Hay for organising.

THE KITTENS (AUSKICK)
The AusKickers got to enjoy a bit of light rain but a mostly tolerable morning for the spectators. There seemed less confusion over start times this week; remember if you have a query just come check with a committee member at the BBQ.

The AusKick umpires continue to develop and we thank all involved for being positive about their umpiring. No need to send me free kick counts; I assure you a KingsleyTeam will win every game this Saturday.
THE CATS (MODIFIED RULES)
It was a very wet morning for the mods teams and there were some big varieties in performance judging by the comments on the website. Well done to everyone for making it to their games, its' a winter sport, and we play whenever it is safe.

If you are ever interested in reading the coaches comments make sure you visit:

Sounds like the year 5 Lions had a close game against the Sorrento Duncraig Dolphins with the coach making the following comment:

"The boys were asked to play 4 quarters of hard running and second efforts which paid off. All the boys played to the best of their abilities which made it difficult to pick out individual performances."

The year 6 Lions and Tigers had a derby this weekend which was played in good spirit. Comment from the Lions Coach,

"The boys played well and really got to work in the first half of the game. The second half the boys played a bit loose and where shown up but credit to them as they dug deep in the last quarter and played the game out well."

THE BIG CATS (OPENS)
The Year 7 Cats started off the afternoon with a win over Marist Black in a low scoring encounter. We saw wins to the Year 8 Cats, Year 9 Cats and Year 11 Northern Lions. The Lions won by 1 point and almost regretted kicking 11 points with a late charge by Scarborough Sea Eagles.

The Year 8 Lions faced another tough game, they are short on numbers and have a few long term injuries making it a tough start to the season. The year 10's narrowly lost their encounter also but from the score, it looks like they were very competitive.

Reminder to managers in this grade to pop in the comments on the website.
INJURED CATS:
This week we saw a twisted knee and a kick to the jaw. I hope the players in question have a speedy recovery and are back out enjoying their football soon.

Remember managers to keep sending in those reports.
UMPIRES WHISTLE:
Nothing was reported this week on the team sheets which is great news for the club. It reflects really well on all members and officials when there are no reportable incidents.

Photo of the Month is back, send the ridiculous, the serious, the epic and the action shots to president@kingsleyjfc.com.au or post directly onto our Facebook Page for your chance to win!
Great shot by Emily Lockhart as the boys get ready to sing the club song

Check out the jumpers on these pooches.

Great shot by Mitch Drewitt off Aven showing some determination.

Life Members Day

Sunday afternoon the committee will be hosting the KJFC life members. Each year we look forward to our life members coming down and sharing stories of how the club was created. It's an important part of the history of the club and also a reward to those people who put in the hard work to make KJFC a great club.

Team Photos

Your team manager would have been given their timeslot for team photos. You can see what day you'll have yours at the top right of this newsletter. If you haven't heard anything about when you are due then perhaps give your manager a nudge.
Please ensure you have your Collier Homes Logo sewn onto the left-hand front side of your club shorts.

Merchandise

We have the full range of Polos back in stock, so if you are chasing those make sure you come down to the Club Saturday morning between 8:30 and 10:00. You can get your hands on plenty of warm winter wear and there is also the AusKick sized KJFC footballs available.

Canteen

The canteen is always open for business; make sure you check out the range available. Sunday lunch time the burgers are a particular bargain for $5.50 and a patty triple the size of the fast food joints.

That's all from me; enjoy this weekends football,

Hamish Borthen
