Articles, tips and trends in the comedy universe (on the web)
How tech innovation is impacting writers
Miss the days of pen, paper and the envelope? No us neither. Tech has had a major influence on how we create in recent years, and that trend will continue. The surface has barely been scratched.

This article describes 28 projects that are on the Walkleys Media Incubator shortlist.
There are things in here using Artificial Intelligence to help write a blog post, a different way to get paid for writing online, and automated pitching to producers and commissioners. Take a glimpse into the future here
Learning to stand up
A non-comedy podcast we at CC HQ like to listen to is the Tim Ferriss Show (we occasionally branch out from comedy, but not for too long). He talks a lot about learning techniques, and how 80% of a skill often comes from 20% of the actions when dissected.
So why say this in a comedy creator newsletter? Tim has had a number of comedians on his show and has asked them what would you do if you had 1 week to learn stand up. The answer is consistent. Day 1, get on stage.

The biggest hurdle for comics is being comfortable on stage. So if you want to give it a try but don't know whether to do a course or perfect your material, now you know where to start.

The Simpsons do their Chorts
No this isn't another special episode of The Simpsons from series 13,876. Long before even series 1 was commissioned, The Simpsons were doing something rather innovative. They were creating comedy shorts to promote their show and build an audience as part of The Tracey Ullman Show.
The first ever short was 2 minutes long, and featured Homer and Marge putting each of the kids to bed. Despite the dated animation (it was 1987) you can see the family dynamic, the stupidity of Homer in particular, and consistent jokes leading up to the final scene.
