June 2017
Join us for the League of Women Voters of San Francisco Annual Meeting at 9:30am on June 17, 2017 at the Richmond District Police Station - 461 6th Avenue  San Francisco, CA 94118
Dear Friends,

Much has been going on with the League of Women Voters of San Francisco this spring.

Our LWVSF President, Ashley Raveche, represented our chapter at the League of Women Voters State Convention in Sacramento last weekend.

Under the expert guidance of Co Chair Maxine Anderson, the Advocacy Committee is working on many issues important to LWVSF including our support for the strengthening of the Sunshine Ordinance, to ensure transparency in city government and citizen access to records.

Elisa Bond, our Development Chair, is pleased to announce that we have received a grant of $7,500 from the Haas Foundation.  She is working hard to secure other grants.

LWVSF Vice President, Leah Edwards, with help from many  League volunteers, has spent many hours overseeing elections of housing associations which donate to LWVSF for the service.

The League is supporting a bond action to modernize voting systems through AB 668. In a report published in March, the California Legislative Analyst's Office recommended that the  legislature consider one-time funding to replace aging voting systems.

We have many irons in the fire on important issues. Come to the annual meeting on June 17 to learn more, vote on a new board, program, and budget, and get as involved as you wish.

In May, a student from Tufts University reached out to volunteer as an intern in the LWVSF office.  Board members are delighted and making lists of things for her to do as we no longer have a paid staff person.

We appreciate your time and support! Consider getting involved by joining us for the annual meeting mentioned above, contributing to the League at lwvsf.org, following us on Twitter at @lwvsf, or all of the above!

Sincerely,

League of Women Voters of San Francisco
