Reception Area
The reception children were treated to their new outside area following the half term holidays. They have enjoyed playing and learning on it so much, that they are no longer want to use the other equipment. The reception team are delighted with the physical development opportunities it is providing.
Year 4 Literacy Unit Next week Year 4 will be starting a new Literacy unit on identity, place and language in poetry. In order to support and inspire our writing we would love to invite any parents would like to come in and share some poetry in their own language(s). In particular, we would love any parents who speak Trinidadian Creole or Jamaican Patois to come in and give us a short 'lesson' or introduction to support our reading of John Lyon's poems (from his collection 'Dancing in the Rain').
Child Safety Week
This week we had a brilliant Child Safety Week, where all children spent some time talking and learning about how to keep safe. The NSPCC came to visit to run assemblies for all children and carry out workshops in Year 5 and 6. We are very excited to be raising money for them over the next few weeks (more details to follow). Year 3 had a fun and informative visit to Kensington fire station on Wednesday.
We must also say a huge thank you to Fahad Mohamed (parent of Reception child) who is a police officer and came in on his day off to talk to ALL children in the school about safety issues. It was extremely valuable for all year groups and they were all very excited to have a real police officer in their classrooms – THANK YOU!

FSA NEWS Hello Class Reps and others who have volunteered to help with the summer fair,
Before everyone heads off for half-term holidays, I wanted to share some updates and also to schedule the next meeting on Friday, 9 June at 9am at Chegworth. Class reps -- please ensure a delegate attends if you are not available.
Thanks to all who joined this week's meeting and to everyone for their time and effort to make the fair a success. We have made great progress getting stalls and other jobs assigned. To recap:
Date: 8 July Time: 12-4 Location: Fox - both playgrounds, hall, and toilets. Note we will not use other parts of the building.
New this year: Tokens -- we are moving from handling cash at each stall to centralized token booths; tokens will be used to make nearly all purchases (excluding auction, etc.). Each token will be worth 50p, and we will have 2 card readers so people can use debit/credit cards and contactless payments in addition to cash to buy tokens. This simplifies the money handling and gives us real-time data on the revenues through the day.
New this year: Closed to the general public -- After discussing safety concerns with Mr. Cotter, we agreed that the fair will happily welcome all Fox families and their invited friends/relatives/guests, but we will not advertise to the general public.
Auction and Raffle: Many thanks to Joanne Zanetton and Brenda Brady who have stepped up to lead the Auction and Raffle, respectively. DONATIONS NEEDED! PLEASE contact your class parents, friends, contacts, etc. Joanne and Brenda will organize contacting local businesses for their contributions to ensure we don't have multiple people contacting the same places. If you have any connections, please reach out to Joanne (joanne.zanetton@gmail.com) or Brenda (brenda.brady@mac.com).
Stall Assignments: The stalls list is filling out nicely, with a few classes yet to confirm and a few critical gaps to fill (BBQ, Bouncy Castle, Cake Stall). As a reminder, the responsibilities for each stall include:
Plan the stall and source supplies
Please let me know if your stall needs school-wide donations (e.g. auction, raffle, tombola, cake stall, cafe, like-new toys, etc.) so I can include the request in the newsletter after half-term
Develop the rota of volunteers to run the stall
Decorate (as needed) and set up the stall
Clean up afterwards
Gather receipts for any reimbursements needed and provide them to Anthony Marraccino (amarraccino@gmail.com)
Next Meeting: Friday, 9 June at 9 a.m. @ Chegworth - please ensure a delegate attends if the class rep(s) are not available
Please let me know if you have any questions or need help. I hope you all have a happy and healthy half-term break. See you in June!
