THURSDAY SUMMER LUNCH PROGRAM

We will once again participate in the Summer Lunch Program at the Whispering Pines Mobile Home Park.  This summer we will serve ONE day per week on Thursdays from 12:15-1:30pm from week of June 15 through week of Aug. 17. Please use the link below to sign up or see the sign up sheets at church. We need at least 2 people to volunteer each Thursday, and one must have completed the online site supervisor training.
If you are willing to complete this easy online training, please email Priscilla Nutt at
nuttpriscilla@gmail.com for the link. Please see Priscilla or Paula Younglblood if you have any questions. Thank you for participating! This experience will bless both you and the children we serve!  Participating in the summer lunch program is part our C4C (Congregations for Children) initiatives and we are thankful for the many hands and feet that make this possible.

Our main church office has a fresh coat of paint (done at record speed, thanks to Teresa Buckner) and new window treatments.  Soon, it will have new storage cabinets and shelving.
Thanks to our hard-working Trustees for assembling our new furniture!
PS:  We had the cutest little helper (sitting in chair).

SMALL GROUPS HAVE LASTING, ABUNDANT IMPACT

In recent children's time, Kylee Frye asked our children to tear through a single piece of paper.  Easy Peasy.  Then she had them try tearing through several sheets of paper grouped together into one small stack.  Not so easy -- for children or for adults.  When we stand alone, it is easy to be moved, knocked off course, damaged, broken, hurt;  when we come together in small groups to share what life tosses our way, we gain strength, wisdom, and perspective to keep living our lives abundantly.  Jesus said, "I have come that you might have life, abundant life."  If you have have yet to join a group, visit several to see if one meshes with your needs.  If your schedule and preferences don't match with what is already established, please let Anita know what would work for you.  You can sign up on the list posted at bulletin boards located in both lobbies, or you can contact Anita at (828)216-6591, ageasayles@gmail.com.  To see the groups currently being offered at BUMC click here

CARE TEAM meets Wednesday, June 14 at 4pm at Atlanta Bread Company.

OUR SALKEHATCHIE SUMMER SERVICE WORK TEAM
departs on Saturday, July 8 for their big week of construction work in rural SC.  Their work is to upgrade dilapidated and substandard housing through a cooperative effort that includes the residents helping “to help themselves.”  Donations are needed for the “Biltmore house” that our team will work on while there and will be collected through the day of departure.  Thank you for considering a cash or check donation.  Please note it on your check memo line as, “Salkehatchie.”

STARTS TONIGHT!  APAA PRESENTS THE WIZARD OF OZ JUNE 9 & 10 (Young Performer's Edition) at Diana Wortham Theatre.  Asheville Performing Arts Academy's (APAA) home and office are located at BUMC.  Performance times and ticket prices vary.  For more information on this upcoming performance, check out APAA's website.
