United States
Heated Debate
President Trump announced his decision to withdraw from the Paris Climate Agreement this past Thursday, and countries worldwide are voicing their opposition to his decision. He justified his decision by noting that the agreement was a threat to the U.S. economy as it may result in millions of jobs being lost in the industry sector by 2050. Mr. Trump also stated that he will soon attempt to renegotiate the Paris Agreement to better suit American needs and pursue future international climate deals.

ISIS Attack On Manila Casino
Early Friday morning, 37 people were found dead after a gunman attacked a casino in Manila. Most of the dead did not suffer from gunshot wounds, but rather suffocated from the smoke caused by fires and explosions set by the gunman. The assailant had stuffed $2.3 million worth of poker chips into a bag before engaging in a firefight with the security guards. After having sustained wounds in the gunfight, the assailant went to a hotel room where he doused himself with gasoline, set himself on fire, and shot himself to death. Initially, officials denied that the attack was motivated by terrorism but later on, ISIS's Amaq media wing claimed responsibility for the attack.

GeoQuestion
Yesterday's Answer
Q: With an average elevation of over 9000 feet, which continent has the highest average elevation?

A: Antarctica
You may have thought that Asia, with Mount Everest, is the continent with highest average elevation, but that is not the case. Antarctica, surprisingly, is the highest average continent on Earth. Antarctica is actually an archipelago of rocks connected and covered by ice. Some of these rocky islands rise to around 5000 feet above sea level, but the massive ice sheets lying on top of them add, in some places, literally miles of altitude to the continent. The highest mountain in Antarctica is Mount Vinson at a height of 16050 feet.
