This year we can’t call it a garage sale because it’s happening in the tidy back room of our Bloor St. shop, but anyone who has ever attended one of our annual clearance events knows what to expect. For bibliomaniacs, it's a participatory sport: relentlessly fascinating, frenzy-inducing, the best treasure hunt in town.

Thousands of items will be on offer -- hardcovers, paperbacks, and ephemera -- covering a mad variety of subjects and genres. The most alluring bibliographic adjectives apply: antiquarian, scholarly, literary, pictorial, juvenile, campy, sleazy, absurd...

The quality of the material is high, but the prices are incredibly modest. Pamphlets and maps, $1; mass-market paperbacks, $2; trade and oversized paperbacks, $3; and hardcovers of any size or vintage, $4. Just bear in mind that the sale books aren’t sorted by subject, so come prepared to browse.
