First of all, we are pleased to announce the appointment of Florence Dupeuble as Expert in Efficacy at Lynxee consulting's. Find out more in our post below.

This month was marked by a huge number of regulatory news.
In Europe, the 10th ATP of CLP Regulation, a new database with genotoxicity endpoints, EFSA peer review on physical-chemical properties and analytical methods and a review of exposure data to pesticides were released.

In France, the new Order on the Use of PPPs, four Orders for saving certificates (CEPP) and an update of the list of spray drift reduction equipment were published.

EUROPE: End of DPD labelling and new ATP no.10

As a reminder, mixtures (products) with old labels (classification according to the old Directive 1999/45/EC called ‘DPD’) will have to be withdrawn from the market on 1 June 2017. The CLP classification is now mandatory on labels of all mixtures. The latest exemption concerning products already on the market on 1 june 2015 has just ended.

EUROPE: A new database with genotoxicity endpoints

The overall objective from this EFSA project is the compilation of a database specific for pesticide active substances and their metabolites, which is comprising the different genotoxicity endpoints i.e. point mutations, structural and numerical chromosome aberrations. The database represents a practical tool to complement the in-silico tools i.e. QSAR, grouping and read across for prediction and indication of the genotoxicity hazard.

EUROPE: Review of exposure data to pesticides

Over the last 30-40 years there has been growing concern regarding the contamination of the environment by pesticides and public concerns regarding their own exposure to pesticides began to gain momentum around the early 2000s. In 2014, the ‘EFSA Guidance on the assessment of exposure of operators, workers, residents and bystanders in risk assessment for plant protection products’ and a spreadsheet calculator to facilitate calculation of exposures were published. The datasets on which the calculations are made are restricted in terms of there being a limited number of studies and incompleteness. Consequently, EFSA have commissioned a study to review and evaluate all published data related to the exposure to pesticides for residents and bystanders and for environmental risk assessment.

FRANCE: The new order on the Use of PPPs is finally published!

The new Order repealing the Order of 12 September 2006 has been published and entered into force on 08 May 2017. Seised by the National Association of Apples and Pears Producers (ANPP), the Council of State had asked the Ministry to repeal the previous text for procedural reasons.

FRANCE: Publication of 4 Orders ensuring the entry into force of saving certificates ('CEPP') 

Four orders were issued late April – early May for saving Certificates (‘CEPP’). They confirm the effective entry into force of the CEPP system.
