New Online Course: A Human Rights Based Approach (HRBA) to Integrated Water Resources Management (IWRM) – 11 September to 11 November 2017.

The Cap-Net Virtual Campus will be conducting an online course on ‘Human Rights Based Approach (HRBA) to Integrated Water Resources Management (IWRM) from 11 September to 11 November 2017’.The aim of this course is to bring together two fields, human rights and IWRM as awareness has grown within the human rights community that water management is fundamental to the realization of a range of human rights.

The course is open to a maximum of 50 participants representing various stakeholder groups across the entire water sector. The deadline for registration is on the 18th of August 2017 (Friday).

New Online Course in Spanish: Derecho Internacional de Aguas en América Latina – Edición 2017 - 4 September to 9 October 2017.

The Cap-Net Virtual Campus will be conducting an online course in Spanish on 'Derecho Internacional de Aguas en América Latina – Edición 2017' from 4 September to 9 October 2017.

The objective of this course is to promote international cooperation and facilitate good water governance by strengthening capacities of institutions and individuals who are in a position to influence and advise decision-makers on the legal frameworks for international water resources management. The course continues the line of work of GWP, LA-WETnet and Cap-Net UNDP in International Water Law.

It is aimed at a maximum of 50 participants from Latin America and has no registration fee. The deadline for registration is on the 11th of August 2017 (Friday).

3rd National Conference on Water Policy – 27 to 28 June 2017, Buenos Aires, Argentina.

The Argentine Network for Training and Strengthening of Integrated Water Resources Management (Arg Cap-Net), the Federal Water Council (COHIFE) and the Undersecretariat of Water Resources of the Nation (SSRH) organized and held the 3rd National Conference on Water Policy on June 27 and 28 in Buenos Aires.
 
The objective of the Conference was to promote the participation of stakeholders related to water resources, seeking to include all those responsible in different jurisdictions and areas: politicians, officials, technicians, user organizations, basin organizations, study centers, non-governmental organizations, governmental organizations and, in general, all those institutions and people concerned with water management, one of the problems to be solved in Argentina and in the world in this century.

SuSanA will be organizing its 24th Meeting which will take place on the 26 August 2017 in Stockholm, Sweden. Hosted by the Stockholm Environmental Institute (SEI), the upcoming highlights for this meeting will be its live stream platform planned for SuSanA members who are unable to attend this meeting. A twitter chat platform will also be implemented to ensure active participation.

SIWI will be launching #WaterWomen from 31 of July 2017 to promote and give a new face to the way women is perceived in water sector. SIWI will be highlighting the crucial roles played by women in water governance, management, decision making and more! Through #WaterWomen, SIWI aims to collect images that illustrate these important roles and tell the stories of women as invaluable water managers, decision makers and users. Please spread and promote these important roles by participating in the #WaterWomen campaign and photo contest.

AWARENET launched online seminar series on Water Integrity with first webinar on the Regulation of the Water Sector in Palestine
AWARENET specifically tailored the Online Seminar Series on Water Integrity to the Arab region, which consists of four bi-monthly webinars in 2017, a platform for documents and a discussion forum, supported by Cap-Net UNDP through its Virtual Campus and conducted using Webex. Module 1 of the Online Seminar Series: Water Integrity in the Arab Region took place on the 20 June 2017. The module focused on the experience of the Water Sector Regulatory Council in the State of Palestine, with its CEO Mohamed Said Al Hmaidi. Mr. Al-Hmaidi highlighted that in the State of Palestine, as in most countries in the Arab region, water service providers are struggling to provide a sustainable service. In the State of Palestine alone, around 500 service providers in the water, wastewater and desalination sector exist, each having created their own way of tariff setting.

Innovate 4 Water A Matchmaking Forum for Sustainable Development - 7 to 9 June 2017, Geneva, Switzerland.
Innovate 4 Water Forum took place at over three days from 7 to 9 June 2016 at WIPO in Geneva, Switzerland, bringing water innovators, investors and other stakeholders together to accelerate innovation and diffusion. This forum was organised by Waterpreneurs and WIPO Green.

Cap-Net Director, Dr. Themba Gumbo participated as one of the more than 300 delegates to launch the Cap-Tec programme and to connect with potential partners and investors. Cap-Net also used the occasion to launch its video clip on Cap-Tec now available on the Cap-Net website or YouTube Please take time to follow up on the Innovate 4 Water outcomes.
