New Report Shows Noble Students Receive The Equivalent of  Two Years Of Instruction During Just One School Year

Report Released On June 13th By Respected Center For Research On Education Outcomes (CREDO) At Stanford University

CHICAGO, IL – A comprehensive report released this week by Stanford University's well-respected Center for Education Outcomes (CREDO) shows that students at the Noble Network of Charter Schools receive the equivalent of nearly two additional years of math education during just one normal school year. The extensive study, titled "Charter Management Organizations 2017," analyzed student outcomes from thousands of charter public schools across the country. In total, CREDO compiled data from 3.7 million student observations across 26 states.

In describing the methodology and results of the CREDO study, the Chicago Sun-Times reported on June 14th that "lead analyst James L. Woodworth translated the academic growth of year-over-year test scores into additional days of learning based on a 180-day school year. And he found that students at the Noble Network of Charter Schools received the equivalent of nearly two years’ worth of math instruction in a single year..."

The CREDO study results mark a defining moment in the decades-long drive to improve educational outcomes for Chicago's public school students. The Noble Network of Charter Schools opened its first public charter campus in 1999 and now operates 18 campuses throughout the city, serving a student population that is 98% minority, 89% low income, and comes from nearly every single Chicago neighborhood. The extensive math instruction noted by CREDO is a crucial piece of the high school education necessary for students to succeed in college and is a foundational part of Noble's rigorous college preparatory environment, which includes robust class offerings, advisory and mentorship programs, college visits, and college application guidance.

"Our staff, students, and families put in a tremendous amount of care and effort every day to maximize growth and prepare for college success” said Kyle Cole, Chief Academic Officer for Noble.  “We are grateful to see such a well respected organization like CREDO accurately highlight the impact of this care and effort."
