FAIRTRADE LONDON MEETING

You are invited to our next Fairtrade London meeting. This will be our biggest meeting in 2017 and we’d like to see as many of you as possible.

Come along to:

• Discuss the changing landscape of Fairtrade certification,
• Socialise with fellow Fairtrade campaigners and enthusiasts,
• Discuss London’s representation on the Fairtrade Foundation's National Campaigner Committee,
• Enjoy some Fairtrade chocolate and wine.

The main agenda for the meeting will be information around the changing landscape of Fairtrade certification and discussion on the implications for our campaigning.

In recent years, for example we have seen the rise of numerous alternatives to the Fairtrade Mark, including Rainforest Alliance and Fair for Life, and the Fairtrade Foundation increasingly working in partnership with company own sustainability schemes, for example the recent partnership between Fairtrade and Cocoa Life replacing Fairtrade certification on Dairy Milk from July 2017.

We will have a speaker from the Fairtrade Foundation and a discussion about how best to respond to these developments as campaigners for Fairtrade and trade justice.

We also want to discuss electing a representative for London on the National Campaigner Committee (NCC). We are expecting members of local steering groups to put themselves forward on the day. We will discuss at the meeting, and are then planning to hold elections via e-mail where each Fairtrade Borough campaign will have one vote.

Finally, we are making the meeting a summer social and enjoying some delicious Fairtrade chocolate and wine!
