Dear Parents and Students

As the end of another productive year approaches we would like to recap on a few important events that took place this term and to give you some valuable information about what lies ahead in the new academic year.

In this email:

Year 13
Pre-Departure workshop

The HEO organized an informative Pre-Departure workshop on Wednesday 31 May for our recently graduated Year 13 students. They had the valuable opportunity of chatting with alumni from a variety of universities around the world and received some practical advice about visas, living independently on a budget and how to cope with cultural adjustment as they embark on the next exciting stage of their journey.

University Essays

Students have been very busy working on their first draft of university essays and narrowing their choices.

Please note that the deadline for the first essay drafts was Monday 12 June. Completing their first draft before the summer will be of great benefit to students as there will be time to receive feedback from their counsellor and to work on improvements before the beginning of the academic year.

Preparing for the transition into Year 13

When students return in August as a senior in Year 13, they will have an incredibly busy time ahead of them. To prepare both students and their parents for what lies ahead, the HEO organized a coffee morning and invited a couple of recently graduated students and a DC alum who has just completed her first year at the University of Exeter, to share their experiences on the whole process.
