First Team Meeting
Rebuild Damas Church
Saturday, June 17
The first team meeting for the September trip to Haiti is scheduled for this Saturday, June 17, at 9:00 am at the District Office (6737 Cetronia Road, Allentown, PA 18106).
Because the devastation resulting from Hurricane Matthew was so severe, there is little infrastructure in the area where the churches will be built. Travel is difficult; the environment is harsh; the living conditions are spartan; amenities are non-existent.
Penn-Jersey has scheduled a rebuild team for September 14-23, 2017. The size of the team has been limited to 8-10 persons because of logistical considerations. The current budget is two-fold. Individual budget is $1500 and is depending on airfare. Project budget is $7500 ($6500 for materials, $1000 for Haitian labor). Team meetings have been scheduled at the Penn-Jersey District office for June 17, July 15, August 12, and September 2 from 9:00 am to 11:00 am. Participation in team meetings is crucial for adequate preparation.
Because of the need to purchase airline tickets early, a completed Team Member Information form and $950 funding for airfare, must be in hand by July 1.
