Cyrillic Workshop from Typeworks
Dear friends of type, let me introduce this years workshop by Typeworks Association Bern: We’re happy to present a Cyrillic type design workshop with two young and talented type designers Maria Doreuli (RU) and Krista Radoeva (BU). Through a combination of lectures, group exercises, independent work and feedback sessions, the mentors will provide an in-depth look into the basic structure and the development of the letterforms.
The workshop will be conducted in English and will take place from August 23 to 26, 2017 in Bern, Switzerland. It is aimed at designers with a basic experience in type design who want to extend their Latin typeface with Cyrillics.
The Cyrillic script is used in over 50 languages including Bulgarian, Macedonian, Russian, Serbian, Ukrainian and many more. Besides covering the basic Cyrillic alphabet, the course will also cover the localized versions for Bulgarian and Serbian Cyrillic. Prepare yourself for the workshop by reading their blog www.cyrillicsly.com!
Applications are due July 16, 2017. Please find detailed information about the mentors and the topic on our website www.typeworks.ch or reach us here

Work in Progress
Besides that, I’m working on a new serif typeface family by the name Ekstra for text sizes and a sharp version for display use. Want to see more in use samples of it? Have a look at the german version of this newsletter here
