Test Driven Magento

🤩 I am writing a book! 🤩
It's getting serious! I am working on "Test Driven Magento by Example", a book that walks through creating a complete functional Magento 2 extension using Test Driven Development (TDD). And to strengthen the commitment actually finishing it, I'll keep you up to date with this newsletter.

The journey begins...

For starters, I created a Leanpub account (first dollars spent!), Bitbucket repository and looked for good markdown editors on Linux. Currently using Retext but am not really satisfied with the real time preview. Maybe I'll switch to PhpStorm with markdown plugin. With all the real code examples I constantly switch between PhpStorm and text editor anyways.

But of course I also wrote down the concept behind the book and started with the first chapters.

I'm not trying to write a thourough reference. Instead it's going to be short and practical, all by one realistic example module. If this turns out well, I can already think of a sequel or add on with a different example that covers the topic from a different vertical angle.

Current state

Outlined 7 chapters
written 5437 words, resulting in 37 pages (most of it code, to be honest)
