On March 2nd, delegates from 18 of Alaska's 40-something Farmers Markets traveled to Homer for the first ever Alaska Farmers Market Conference. Just over 50 people participated in the 3-day event that hosted special keynote speakers. By the end of the event, it was decided to restart the Alaska Farmers Market Association to help support and promote vibrant and sustainable farmers markets throughout Alaska. Kenai Soil & Water Conservation District partnered with Kenai Peninsula Farm Bureau and Odie's Deli in Soldotna held three networking events to search of ways to get more local products into local restaurants.

The Kenai Soil and Water Conservation District is excited to share the 2017 Central Peninsula Market Analysis, authored by SPORK consulting.  The market analysis provides improved understanding of both farmer and whole customer needs and the potential growth and improvement. Support Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program in Alaska
The president has proposed a budget that would cut millions in funding for the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) which helps families and workers struggling to keep food on the table.
