The school year drew to a close with our 8th graders and 12th graders in the spotlight at three beautiful graduation ceremonies. The spotlight has also been shining on our leaders and schools. It has been a full summer season of individual and collective recognition, and we are oh so proud!

Accolades Abound

IGNITE the Crowd
City High School Principal Brett Goble was a featured 'Ignite' presenter at a statewide conference in June. He inspired the crowd with a talk on fostering purposeful professional learning for teachers.
#1 Rank in Tucson in Equality Index
City High School came out at the top of the list for Tucson schools demonstrating high levels of achievement for its lowest income students. Learn more about the Education Equality Index and the data and process >> 
Congressional Recognition
Congressman Raul Grijalva's office honored graduating senior Angelique Montaño with a special congressional recognition for outstanding achievement.
Dr. Mary Jo Ghory Chosen for Major Philanthropy Award!
Join us at the AFP's annual Philanthropy Day luncheon on November 17 when our long-time board chair will receive the Outstanding Philanthropist of the Year award.
8th Grade Awards
The Paulo Freire Freedom Schools honored 6 graduating 8th graders with their annual 'To Know', 'To Dream' and 'To Rise' awards at each of the schools' graduation ceremonies. Find out who was honored >>
Internship Program to be Honored
City High School's internship program was selected for the 2017 AFP Youth in Philanthropy award. Thank you to our partners at the Children's Museum Tucson for the nomination!

Leading by Example - Eve Rifkin Earns Her Doctorate

City High School's Director of College Access and one of the school's co-founders graduated in May with a Doctorate in Education Leadership and Policy from Vanderbilt University's Peabody College of Education and Human Develoment.
