ST. MARK’S CELEBRATES OUR NATION’S BIRTHDAY:   JULY   2

LUNCH AND SING-ALONG
The sign-up sheet for St. Mark’s Lunch Spectacular and  Patriotic Sing-Along is  out for  your R.S.V.P. (Find it on the courtyard on Sundays, or in church office.)

Don’t miss the good old-fashioned Fourth of July celebration on Sunday, July 2 in the Social Hall and spilling onto the Courtyard. Hotdogs on the grill. Dripping watermelon. Yummy, cheesy nachos. And more.

Best of all, a patriotic sing-along with choir members fundraising for Carnegie Hall. Sing out loud the songs we love to sing. We’ll all celebrate our nation’s  birthday  together.  Remember, Sunday, July 2. Put your name in the count.

BACK TO SCHOOL BACKPACKS

Community Christian Service Agency (CCSA) Backpack Program is underway. St.  Mark’s hopes to collect 75 packs for local students in K-9th grade. We will collect new backpacks and school items through July 23 when we will bless the packs and their eventual recipients during  church.  The flyer and backpack listing is in the office or you can go to www.ccsasandiego.org/projects/back-to- school-program for more information. Thanks in advance for your generosity.

MARK YOUR CALENDARS

The San Diego Regional Interfaith Community has invited St. Mark’s to participate in two community events in July. On Wednesday, July 12 at 7 p.m. we will join together at St. Paul’s Cathedral for an interfaith worship service as part of the Pride festivities. We will honor the three organizations that organized the first local demonstration for LGBT rights in 1974: Dignity, the Metropolitan Community Church, and the Imperial Court de San Diego. On Saturday, July 15 at 11 a.m., St. Mark’s will be walking Downtown in this year’s Pride Parade, sharing the message of “Allied in Action: United for Justice”. If you are interested in participating in either or both events, please contact Rev. Jeri at jeri@stmarksumcsd.org or sign-up in the office.
YARD SALE AUGUST 4 - 5
Please remember the dates for the yard sale and plan to participate by:
Donating Items
Assisting with sorting items before yard sale
Shopping the yard sale Assisting during the yard sale

Please pray for the event and its contribution to our church and community!

VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL AUGUST 21 – 25

We need your skill and input for the shops in the marketplace. Imagine the community of people living in 29 A.D. and the importance of the well as a meeting place. No newspapers! No internet! People coming together person-to-person for news of the day and offering wares necessary for daily life.

If every one of us at St. Mark’s (no matter  age or ability) contributed her or his particular skill to the fun of VBS, you’d find some personal joy in your effort. Maybe you like jewelry making, or baking, or storytelling? What if you simply sat in a trade shop to lend a hand? Please find your niche in the marketplace on one or more days the week of August 21-25.

Call or email us, please? Renee Anderson at the.renee.anderson@gmail.com or Karen Scanlon at kwscanlon@gmail.com and 858 583-4992.

Your personal contribution to VBS is most important. And you’ll be the one having the most fun.

BLOOD PRESSURE CLINIC

Be sure to stop by the New Room after church this Sunday to get your blood pressure checked by one of St. Mark’s very competent blood pressure screeners. This is a free monthly service.
