We Are Not in Kansas Anymore...

Unlike Dorothy, my aircraft whisked me from the Emerald Isle to Kansas City, the magical Oz for woodturners!

Dear woodturning friend,

To all my friends from around the globe  - the more I travel the more I enjoy meeting people from the world of woodturning.  However I do miss home and family and so, I hope that you will come and visit me, and look forward to teaching you from my own workshop.

My TIP on this e-zine responds to many Oneway jig questions I get. As I travel around the USA I noticed that many woodturning clubs and woodturners own the 'Oneway Wolverine' jig. Many of them are not working correctly and either loosen very easily or won't lock up at all. The 3-min video at the bottom of this e-zine will show you how to resolve this problem.

So, a little about my latest tour - my generous hosts David and Anne in Seattle made me feel right at home and provided a quiet haven after the busy demo and teaching schedule.  Then off to San Diego where Karen and Maurie took care of me and I adored their animal-filled garden. More 4 and 2-legged creatures, dogs, goats and chickens, awaited me at Dan and Betty's near the San Pasqual Valley - I even got to have a Father's Day BBQ with them (great brisket) and in the morning squeezed oranges I picked from their orange tree - I could never do that in Ireland!

I packed up my ruby grinding wheels, and headed to Kansas for the American Association of Woodturners symposium. And what a whirlwind it was! So great to meet so many people and chat to new and old friends at the event.

My signature class at Craft Supplies is now an annual event in my calendar and it was great to meet all the Craft Supplies team again along with a very dedicated group of turners who attended my class for 5-days.

I am back to the USA again in September - starting with 'Turning Southern' and some classes in Georgia, then off to Minneapolis-Saint Paul for demos and classes, finishing my Autumn tour at the Marc Adams School of Woodworking in Indiana.

Wishing you a great summer (winter, down-under).

For now, there is no place like home!
