Plumbing Fixed at IPDC Building

We put out an announcement that we had a major water problem here at the Main Building for IPDC services.  We are happy to announce we have fixed the problem and are back in service.  Thanks to Ohmsted Plumbing here in Rutherford for the quick work.
More from the IPDC FY 17-18 Budget

In our last newsletter, we started to pull out specific programs from the Budget and give them a more thorough look through.  This week we look at the Workforce Development Board Program.  The Workforce Board membership is a mix of private sector and public sector employers.  The membership is appointed by the four county's that make up Region C. The Board is supported by the IPDC and staffed and administered by same.

Effective July 1, 1986, the Commission became the Service Delivery Area (SDA), now called Local Area, for Region C under an agreement made by the four Boards of County Commissioners.  The Commission serves as the administrative and fiscal entity for the program under the Workforce Investment and Opportunity Act (WIOA).  As such, the Commission is responsible for planning, administering, delivering, contracting and monitoring, for a variety of programs under the Act as well as being responsible for the accounting and fiscal management of the program.

As the region’s economic and employment conditions continue their recovery, the need for workforce and economic development services continue to be a critical element of job creation and retention.  Carryover of prior Program Year funds for services to adults, dislocated workers and youth is estimated at $1,108,792.  With the expected allocation of $1,750,722 for the coming fiscal year, total WIOA funding is anticipated to be $2,859,540 for FY 17-18.  This represents a decrease in programmatic funding of $131,306 from the current fiscal year.

The staff of the Workforce Board is made up of Director Steve Lockett ( slockett@regionc.org), Business Service Reps Jerry Broome in McDowell and Cleveland County and Brandon Ruppe in Cleveland, Rutherford and Polk County's.  Linda Sprouse serves as the Region C Youth Coordinator for these aspects of the program.  Finally and most importantly, Staff is supported by Diane Hodge and Tammy Phillips as Workforce Development Specialists who work with our contracted service providers, work with WIOA Compliance issues and support other efforts in our Region including working with our contracts with our Community College Partners in our NC Work Centers to make sure we are matching qualified workers with training opportunities and jobs.
