Support reproductive rights for women of color July 18

Connecting women in the reproductive justice movement is one part of AAUW's efforts to strengthen our advocacy efforts for all women. Join us as we work with COLOR - Colorado Organization for Latina Opportunity and Reproductive Rights to examine and understand our identities, attitudes, and beliefs about diversity through the lens of reproductive rights.

RSVP for our next webinar July 18 at 7pm. COLOR Program Director Karla Gonzales Garcia will share HERstory!, the organization's activities as a Reproductive Justice Organization. This is our opportunity to learn about the women's health struggle faced by women of color and how AAUW and women everywhere can continue to support these issues.

Our August selection is What Works for Women at Work: Four Patterns Working Women Need to Know by Joan C. Williams with Rachel Dempsey and Anne-Marie Slaughter. A key resource for any working woman, What Works for Women at Work is a comprehensive and insightful guide for mastering office politics as a woman. Authored by Joan C. Williams, one of the nation’s most-cited experts on women and work, and her daughter, writer Rachel Dempsey, this unique book offers a multi-generational perspective into the realities of today’s workplace. Often women receive messages that they have only themselves to blame for failing to get ahead–Negotiate more! Stop being such a wimp! Stop being such a witch! What Works for Women at Work tells women it’s not their fault. The simple fact is that office politics often benefits men over women. Based on interviews with 127 successful working women, over half of them women of color, What Works for Women at Work presents a toolkit for getting ahead in today’s workplace.

You can also discuss with us at Goodreads or on our Facebook page if you have any thoughts to inspire!
