June 2017
WOW! What a month it has been! 😀

I've just gotten back home from the World Series of Poker in Las Vegas and the trip was out-of-this-world amazing. It was great to finally meet so many longtime fans of the blog in person for the first time! Thanks for being so supportive of my work for all these years.

I didn't do much sleeping while in Vegas, as I was constantly busy either meeting people, writing up articles about the fantastic experiences, or playing poker (how could I not?!
😀).

The highlights were practically too numerous to list, as the trip pretty much consisted of one fantastic day after another. Some of the experiences have already been detailed in blog posts I've released (see below), plus I've also published a couple of great poker interviews.

Not that any one phrase can sum it up, but the fact of the matter is that there are plenty of fantastic stories that Las Vegas has to offer during WSOP season, both within and outside the halls of the Rio.

I've got MANY more stories to share about the trip, which I hope to put together for you over the coming weeks. Stay tuned for lots more poker entertainment.

NEWS: WE'RE HEADED BACK TO VEGAS FOR THE WSOP MAIN EVENT!

Subscribers like you get the news first: I'm thrilled to let you know that I've accepted a temporary position to work with the top-notch team at Poker PROductions during the World Series of Poker Main Event.

I will be back in Las Vegas once more between July 7-17, helping to gather information about the lucky players who get selected to sit at the feature tables each day. No more November Nine means a new set of challenges for the production team, so I'm grateful for the opportunity to work with them and hopefully have some small role in helping them pull off a successful broadcast for your enjoyment.

"RUNNING WELL" UPDATE: 1,000 km charity poker challenge

The running did not stop while I was in Vegas (though I did "slow down" a tad). I've run 461 km thus far, so I'm still more or less on pace to make it to 1,000 km by the end of the year and donate a full $1,000 to Kids Kicking Cancer.

Special thanks to Women in Poker Hall of Famer Jan Fisher who has generously decided to up her pledge to a total of 50 cents per kilometer! If you (or the company you work for) are interested in pledging your support, please Email me.

Finally, with so much to keep track of during the WSOP (it IS peak poker time of the year after all), it's possible you might have missed some of the articles we've published over the past month. I've listed a larger-than-usual selection for you below.

As always, your feedback, constructive or otherwise, is most welcome.

Keep in touch,

What It’s Like to Be Introduced to Poker’s Living Legend, Doyle Brunson

Pretty much any and every poker fan, no matter how casual, recognizes the name Doyle Brunson. The unmistakable cowboy hat sitting atop that ever-smiling face; poker’s living legend truly is one-of-a-kind.

I was fortunate enough to have had the opportunity to be introduced to Mr. Brunson. I’d just like to reflect on and share what that was like. In a nutshell: incredible. I’m grateful for a memory that will last a lifetime.

Playing in Joey’s Great Game of PLO

Poker fans already know of Joey Ingram’s long love affair with the great game of Pot Limit Omaha (PLO), but it’s a special privilege to actually sit at a live poker table and mix it up with the grand papi himself.

I had the good fortune of being able to do just that. Let’s just say it was an extremely GTO move. The laughs and memories will stick with me forever. Join me as I fill you in on all the details of what went down.

In Poker, Timing Is Everything

It would take a very unique set of circumstances for me to ever consider “hitting and running” at a poker table. As fate would have it, the stars aligned for a very unique set of circumstances, which led me to play poker, though I hadn’t planned on doing so.

I’m glad I did, as my one-hand session left me with a story I’ll never forget. I figured it’s something you’d all enjoy, so I’ve decided to share it with you.

The (Poker) Ties That Bind

Sometimes poker can be the conduit for some of the best, most heartwarming stories. Last night, after deciding on the spur of the moment to head out to the Commerce Casino in Los Angeles, I had the good fortune of bumping into a long lost friend and mentor who I hadn’t seen for over a dozen years.

This is the incredible story of how a poker room was the setting for me reconnecting by pure chance with someone who helped shape my life, Coach Paul Young.
