Join in the Summer Fun!

There is no time of the year I look forward to more than summer. In the youth and family ministry, summer is a season of fun trips, camps and activities. In our personal lives summer is a time for picnics, BBQs, pool parties and beach days. In the life of our church, summer is a great time to invite people into community, fun, service and relationships. As a church we have lots of events throughout the year that are designed for this type of easy invitation and there are a few coming up soon.

These events are designed to engage in relationship with one another, to connect in community as a body and to invite people who may not normally step foot into our church doors on a Sunday, to come and feel welcomed in a fun and relational environment. One of the phrases we often use in youth ministry is that we believe the best way to reach students for Christ is by “experiencing the gospel through the context of relationship.”

So, as you read the list of events and activities below, would you join us and participate in community? Would you be willing to invest by serving to make the events happen? Would you pray for the courage and intentionality to invite people who need this type of community in their lives, one filled with people who love Jesus and want to make Him known?...

The Gift of Discipling Others

“Kelsey I love junior highers . . . I love ministry.” This was a text I got last week from Erica Grimm who was a student of mine for three years while she was in the high school ministry here at EvFree. She is now going to be a sophomore in college. Hearing that someone loves ministry is such a cool thing from anyone, but it is even more special to receive as I reflect on and transition out of my time working in the high school ministry.

In June of 2013, I finished college and moved to Fullerton where I began my job at EvFree as a High School Girls Director. I knew my contract would end four years later, but it felt so distant. Now, in June of 2017, I have “graduated” with my class of students and I remember what God did in and through me.

Erica let me in on her life right from the beginning...

For God’s Glory Spring Performance Recap

Thank you to everyone who joined us on Thursday, June 22 for the spring performance by the group For God’s Glory, which is made up of 24 special needs adults, four volunteers and one amazing director. This year our group focused on the verse John 14:6, “Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” Our students used puppets, songs and dance to share how Jesus is the compass in their life, always pointing to up to God.
