An abstract tale of togetherness
Banbury Cross Players present Abi Morgan's "Lovesong"

The Set Design team have been hard at work (ably assisted by a team of willing painters from BCP's membership on what has arguably been the hottest day of the year!).  The Props team have been on the lookout for such items as Apple i-pods and gentleman's pyjamas.  The marketing team have been putting together photographs, media copy and video footage.  Sound and lighting teams have been putting the final touches to their production design and, of course, the actors continue being put through their paces by director Tara Lacey.  All in the name of bringing to the stage, BCP's final production of the 2017/2018 season Abi Morgan’s Lovesong.

This fresh, contemporary piece balances a real-life story with an abstract presentation.  The play was originally created in a physical theatre environment, and Director, Tara Lacey, and choreographer, Karen Baldry’s, approach for BCP’s production focuses on bringing flowing, stylised movement to the piece.  “Karen is a very talented choreographer, who has given freely of her energy and time to inspire BCP's cast” says Tara.  New member Nikki Dixon joins established BCP members Trish Thompson, Andrew Whiffin and Ian Nutt making up the small but perfectly formed cast.

Morgan’s play is the story of one couple, told from two different points in their lives – as young lovers in their 20s and as worldly companions looking back on their relationship.  Their past and present selves collide in this haunting and beautiful tale of togetherness.  The optimism of youth becomes the wisdom of experience as memories are played out both in real time and remembered.

We do hope you'll be able to join us for what promises to be a modern, unusual, moving, funny and extraordinary production.
