Student Activities
A significant breakthrough was achieved recently when the students went to a place called Verena in Mpumalanga. The town had been devastated by a bus accident which claimed the lives of twenty children from fourteen families.
Eddie Nkosi worked with his congregation in Daveyton and managed to contact the grieving families through the Mayor of Verena and Churches of Christ in that area.
The students supported the grieving families and Eddie Nkosi delivered the counselling message to the families. He and Churches of Christ raised R40,700 to give to those who had lost loved ones.
As a consequence of this the Councillor of Verena, Mr Msibi, made a piece of land available on which to erect a building.

Evangelism Report
On the 11th of April 2017 the students went to Elandsfontein Church of Christ to help the saints with a door to door campaign. It was a great day to reach out to the people without any obstacles. We started working at Elandsfontein around 09:00am and we finished at 16:00pm. We worked with Brother Sipho Mabaso who is in charge of the evangelism ministry, with the help of Elandsfontein leadership. On behalf of the students, we would like to thank the faculty for giving us an opportunity to reach out to the lost souls and so fulfill the great commission.
On 27th April, a public holiday, the students, attended the Gospel meeting at the Meadowlands Church of Christ. It was a well organised Gospel meeting for the students, for they did not encounter any great difficulties, because of the good preparation work. We left for Soweto at 07:00am and we started working around 09:00am, and finished at 13:00pm. They gave out shopping bags which have the name of the church, and numbers to call if one needs to contact the church. It was great to reach out again. Praises be to God. The leadership of Meadowlands Church of Christ gave R800 for petrol, R400 for each taxi.
Evangelism Report: Springs Church of Christ, 25 March 2017.

On the 25th March 2017, Southern Africa Bible College students embarked on evangelism at the Springs Church of Christ.
The congregation specifically required 10 students and a mixture of Afrikaans and Shona speaking Christians because of their target community. Ten students filled the bus and went to Springs. We arrived in Springs 9 am, and started with singing and a devotion. The congregation participated as well.
As usual we divided ourselves into teams of two: a student and a member of the congregation. The students provided the know-how and the member provided the geographical knowledge. The objective for the students was to transfer their knowledge to the congregation so that in future they can work independently. The other objective was to emphasize the importance of congregational follow up on the promises and build a prospect database.
We designed a special form in order to capture the details of prospects for the benefit of the church. The congregation will in turn compile the information gathered during evangelism and create a spread sheet. The evangelists will use the details to do follow up work.
That day we made over 60 contacts and we baptised one soul. We would like to thank the college for providing us with the opportunity to work and improve our evangelism skills.

Lawrence Ramano
It has been a great first semester at the Southern Africa Bible College and students are about to write the final exams.
We are still continuing with God’s given responsibility to equip our students with the word of God so that they can go out and make a difference.
We thank God for all our supporters of the College and especially the Memorial Church of Christ. May God continue to bless you as you serve Him.
Please continue to pray for us so that we do not get weary of working in His vineyard and combating all the troubles we have to deal with.

There is a considerable positive impact by recent graduates and 3rd year students on the teaching in congregations in central and southern Johannesburg. They are well received and do credit to SABC.

During December last year, the College had its first formal external moderation of exit level assessments. The assessors were from the University of Johannesburg. Their feed-back was very valuable and resulted in the amendment of certain aspects of the College’s existing Quality Assurance procedures. The following are some of the comments made in the moderation report:
General Comments:
Thank you for inviting us to examine your exit level exams for your Higher Certificate, Diploma in Biblical Studies and BTh in Biblical Studies. We would like to commend the College on the solid foundations in Biblical Studies that their various modules offer students.
For the Higher Certificate and Bachelors programs we have made comments on the existing modules and made some suggestions for how these modules might be improved going forward.
Teaching and Learning:
Overall courses lacked an engagement with the South African context and we would suggest that in future exam questions ask students to comment on how a particular concept or idea within the various modules could be related to an aspect of life in South Africa today.
The module answers for the exam questions were all very thorough and well-articulated making it possible for marks to be fairly and consistently given.
Markers could perhaps show more leniency in their marking particularly when students are making a valid point but which does not appear in the marking guide.
These comments have been most helpful. What was of particular encouragement was the overall reaction from the moderators that in a few areas our standard may be too high.
