Selvam is a full time smokeless stove installer in the rural villages surrounding Kodaikanal, southern India, supported by your donations to Kids Health India, our new nonprofit (2016). Photographed here with his daughter Leyah, Selvam is well aware of the health risks for children living in toxic smoke daily from cooking.
 
His wife, Sheela, is a trained nurse working full time in local schools monitoring the health of 150 children from the lowest economic sectors of Kodaikanal for the Betsy Elizabeth Trust. Selvam and Sheela have two young children who graduated from Grace Kids Center preschool, where the whole family learned about smokeless stoves first hand.
 
Both Selvam and Sheela share a heartfelt commitment to improving the health of needy families in their local communities, a dynamic team for social change!

Students Develop a Global Perspective

Students from the Geneva International School of Switzerland visited us in India in March, 2017. Four boys wielding 5 pound hammers smash an old smoke-spewing stove to make way for a new one, which will serve 143 children in a rural school. Their comments with each swing of the hammer: “this feels good!”
