Friday, June 23 at 6:00 PM - Kabbalat Shabbat Service led by Ljuba Davis. (Note Shabbat Friday Service time change through September 1.)

Saturday, June 24 at 9:30 AM - Shabbat Morning Torah Service led by Rabbi Caryn Broitman.  (Note Shabbat Saturday Morning Service time change through September 2.) This week's parasha is Korach. For a video about Korach's rebellion against Moses, click here.

Saturday, June 24 at 1:00 to 2:00 PM - Rosh Chodesh Tammuz Service led by Batya Diamond. Observing Rosh Chodesh has been a women's practice since ancient times. Wednesday, July 5 at 8:00 AM - Talmud Class resumes, led by Rabbi Caryn Broitman. The class will meet weekly through August 16th.

Thursday, July 6 at 7:30 PM - MVHC Summer Institute Speaker Series begins.  "Washington Transformation? Politics, Policies, Prospects." With Allen Sinai of Decision Economics, Stanley Fisher, vice-chair of the Federal Reserve, and Kenneth Adelman, arms control negotiator for Ronald Reagan.  Click here for tickets, and  here for the web site.

Friday, July 7 at 6:00 PM - Kabbalat Shabbat Service at the Hebrew Center, followed by a special Shabbat Dinner and talk by Joan Nathan about her new book "King Solomon's Table, A Culinary Exploration of Jewish Cooking from Around the World".  Dinner will be prepared by Jan Buhrman of "Kitchen Porch Catering" and features recipes from the book. Sunday, July 9 at 9:30 AM - MVHC Annual Members' Meeting:  Bagels & lox & coffee at 9:30 am; Meeting comes to order at 10:00 am.

Friday, July 14 at 6:00 PM - Kabbalat Shabbat Service at State Beach. Special Guests Slave Song Project Choir with Jim Thomas. Hear selected songs and their importance to the survival and liberation struggle of enslaved  African Americans. Click here to see more on their web site.

Tuesday, July 25 at 7:00 PM - Book Discussion: "Suite Francaise" by Irene Nemirovsky.  This book is also in preparation for Professor Susan Suleiman's talk on Nemirovsky's legacy on Friday, August 11th. (See below.)

Monday, July 31 at 8:30 PM - Erev Tisha B'Av Service led by Rabbi Caryn Broitman.
  A Fast Day of mourning to commemorate the Destruction of both Temples and other tragedies in Jewish history.  Traditional Chanting Eicha (Book of Lamentations) and Candle-lighting Service

 Friday, August 4 at 6:00 PM - Kabbalat Shabbat Service at State Beach Sponsored by the Membership Committee, welcoming new members and their families.

Friday, August 11 at 6:00 PM - Kabbalat Shabbat Service at the Hebrew Center. Guest speaker Professor Susan Suleiman will talk on:  “Jewish Identity in Question: The Legacy of Irene Nemirovsky,” (See Book Discussion on Tuesday, July 25.)

Monday, August 27 - SAVE THE DATE -  Joint Fundraiser for MVHC and MV Playhouse: A special staged reading of Wendy Kesselman's Tony Award winning 1977 adaptation of "The Diary of Anne Frank."
