TAMPA BAY, FL/JUNE 16, 2017/Tampa Bay Newswire/ — Meetup and Tampa Bay Technology Forum have launched an innovative, geographically-focused partnership. Meetup is an online social networking portal that facilitates offline group meetings in multiple markets around the world and the Tampa Bay Technology Forum is the tech council representing the greater Tampa Bay region. This powerful partnership touts more than 10,500 unique members that represent a fifth of the Tampa Bay technology workforce. Tampa Bay is the largest and fastest-growing technology hub in Florida, with a technology workforce greater than half the states in the nation. One out of every 89 technology workers in the US call Tampa Bay home.
The concept was developed by the Tampa Bay Technology Forum after completing a regional workforce study in partnership with JPMorgan Chase. Meetup, the local Meetup community, and corporations including Valpak, Nielsen and AgileThought quickly embraced the partnership which grew from a handful of Meetups – spearheaded by one of the largest local tech Meetups, Tampa Bay Agile – to over thirty in just under six months.
“Tampa Bay boasts one of the largest and most active tech communities in the world. And now, through this partnership, we are bringing together all the local tech Meetups across Tampa Bay in a spirit of cooperation and collaboration to develop and grow our workforce,” says Stephanie Davis, Meetup organizer of Tampa Bay Agile, which has surpassed two thousand unique members. Stephanie is the Senior Director of Enterprise Agility at Valpak and the Tampa Bay Technology Forum Board of Directors lead for this first-of-its-kind cooperative.
