Cleared for Takeoff!

Several years ago Courtney took a break from flying to focus on helping train Indonesians in aviation.  He will continue to work in National Training efforts but has returned to flying as well.  He recently received all of his Indonesian licenses needed to fly the Pilatus PC-6 aircraft and is all checked out. The tradition at YAJASI is to splash water on pilots when they complete their first flight in a new airplane.  The kids really enjoyed this and are looking forward to ride along on some flights this year.  Courtney is really enjoying flying again, thanks for all of your prayers and support to allow us to do this ministry of serving transportation and Scripture needs for remote people groups!

National Training Update

Last week, Jessie Sokoy, a Papuan trainee, went to Jakarta for a visa interview at the US Embassy.  Praise God that his visa application was accepted!  He will be going to a one year aviation mechanic school in Michigan this August.  Jessie has been working hard in the hangar and studying to improve his English.  Please pray for him as this year long program is very intensive (pictured below).

Sony Haumany just completed the JAARS Orientation in Waxhaw, North Carolina. He and his wife Cia are now attending a one month cultural class and will be back in Papua the end of August. Sony has now finished all of the training and licencing to be a fully authorized mechanic for us (pictured below to the right). He is the first Indonesian to do this!

Dian Pamungkas will be finishing Indonesian mechanic school in December. He will be back at Yajasi the rest of July and August for some on-the-job training with another student from the school.

The after school program that Courtney has been hosting recently ended for this semester.  The students got to fly in our flight simulator and really enjoyed the experience (pictured below on the left).

Rain, Rain, Go Away!

We recently had some big rains which flooded the streets and made the building site a bit messy! In spite of the rain the building project is moving forward and we now have two containers on site.  The rain water collection tank and septic system are almost complete and the foundations for the other half of the house will be starting next week.

Family time summer break

The kids are on summer break and have been keeping Beth busy at home. They enjoy bike riding, board games and puzzles and helping babysit a co-worker's 3 year old.  Anne is enjoying learning more about cooking and made the whole dinner last week. Below she is topping off some cream puffs she made for dessert!

Thank you for all of your prayers ans support that are enabling us to serve here!
