of the Rocky River Approved

|
Version 1.0 of the Nonpoint Source Implementation Strategy of the Headwaters East Branch Rocky River subwatershed was formally approved by USEPA and Ohio EPA on June 22, 2017. The plan identifies critical areas for maintaining and restoring the health of the river and actions that can be taken to address those critical areas. The Headwaters East Branch subwatershed includes the portion of the East Branch upstream of, and including, Healey Creek. Now that Version 1.0 has been approved, it will continue to be updated with additional critical areas and projects. And the Headwaters East Branch is just the beginning - RRWC and Cuyahoga SWCD plan to develop detailed plans for each of the Rocky River's subwatersheds.

Live Asian Carp Found Nine Miles from Lake Michigan
Last week a commercial fisherman caught an 8-pound silver carp in the Calumet River on Chicago’s south side, just 9 miles from Lake Michigan and a full 28 miles beyond the first electric barrier in a network designed to keep the invasive fish from entering the Great Lakes. US Senators Debbie Stabenow (D-MI) and Gary Peters (D-MI) have introduced legislation that would require the Trump Administration to release the Brandon Road Study, a report authored by the Army Corps of Engineers that details how best to prevent the spread of Asian Carp.
TAKE ACTION: Tell Your Representatives That We Can’t Wait Any Longer. The Brandon Road Study is essential to keeping invasive Asian Carp out of the Great Lakes, and Congress must act before it’s too late. Click here to email your senators and representative; tell them to support the Stop Asian Carp Now Act so that we can prevent a large scale invasion of all five Great Lakes and protect the waters we all depend on for drinking water, recreation, and economic stability.
